The provincial government published a directive (4 days ago!) telling them they could not go, link above. If your work-around is that they should lie, that’s not an option for most.

They closed Botanical Beach to non natives with like 6 or 8 days notice. It sucks.

That’s my statement.

It wasn’t to non-natives. It was to all recreational users.

Businesses will be affected by less traffic on a day in the high season.

Some people only have the one day during their visit to see the pools. They may never be able to return.

So there will be impacts.

Saturday until 4PM and Sunday after 4PM. So no full day closure.

Isn't visiting Botanical Beach dependent on when low tide is? No point going when the tide is in.

Yes, and today it’s at its second low at 5:45PM so no after the “closure”. It was super low at 6:45 AM today.

Just like nobody was forced to get the jab. (You just lost your job/freedom of movement if you didn’t)

Really? Comparing the two? Really? One is a real infringement that had real implications on yourself friends and family. For years. The other is a few hours with make believe inconveniences. Don’t embarrass yourself. To use your words on me….

Your reasoning is clouded by emotionalism. It’s not the magnitude of inconvenience that makes it wrong, it’s the principle and the law.

You’re basically saying the same thing sebberry said about the vax: “seriously? You consider this an inconvenience? There’s a pandemic, surely it justifies this small mandatory measure, even if it’s unconstitutional.”

And I recall you likening the pandemic measures to nazi germany… and saying it’s a valid comparison.

I understand you’re sympathetic to First Nations, but logically you can’t have it both ways. It’s either legal or it’s illegal.

I have given receipts and knowledge. I’m not confused by emotion. Nor by racism.

I doubt i’m the only one who sees the logical inconsistency. Like this post if you agree

Caroline Elliott: Closures of B.C. parks to non-Indigenous visitors a sign of things to come

The province has gone all in on denigrating non-Indigenous residents

A year ago in these pages, I criticized land acknowledgements for implying that non-Indigenous Canadians are “uninvited guests” in their own country. Now, the B.C. government has embraced these labels.

To the applause of her colleagues, NDP MLA Rohini Arora stood in the legislature earlier this month, encouraging non-Indigenous British Columbians to describe themselves as a “settler,” “colonizer” and “uninvited guest” living on “Indigenous land.”

Caroline Elliot comments are one persons opinion and perspective. Others have different opinions and perspectives.

You can agree or not agree with the restriction.

A decision has been made and a reason given for it.
