construction at McKenzie/Saanich. Yesterday McKenzie was single lane both directions (which really screws up if someone is turning left) but starting Monday Saanich will be closed.

Even in our we society you cannot continually and blatantly break the law - over a relatively short term - without escalating penalties.
I would thought that they’d have had a large contingent of naive youth ready to go.

Not a very meaningful rebellion, then. They would give up so easily?
Well they are definitely not Ukrainian kids then.

I wonder where these anticipated freedom hobos are going to sleep?
I hope they don't plan on sleeping in their vehicles like they did in Ottawa.
Sleeping in vehicles
84 (1) A person must not park a vehicle in a street for the purpose of sleeping overnight in the vehicle.
(2) A person must not sleep overnight in a vehicle parked on a street.

Imagine, a city super supportive of protest for all these years, even being open to letting people sleep in their vehicles for months, and camping in parks (prior to the pandemic, even), with a police force that tolerates blocked bridges, and regularly blocked streets with marching groups of people, and a city hall that supported workers walking out on Fridays to participate in marches, with elected officials participating even in protest events, is now facing a prolonged protest event at the hands groups they don’t agree with.
This is the sort of scenario I refer to, when I say the pendulum always swings back. And with the prospect of these protests hindering businesses now on city hall’s mind, I’d like to remind city hall, that all of the protests we’ve had over the years, have been impacting business. But those concerns fell on deaf ears.

There's nothing quite as amusing as a SJW hypocrite.

Right yeah, these people will totally follow all city bylaws, just like they did in Ottawa.

Preparations are not making any national news.
Is this all based on one guy’s Facebook post?

The council put out a statement yesterday asking residents to take transit, and they appeared to put some blame on many people returning to work and how that wasn’t factored in to their planning, which frustrated residents who feel like the district is blaming them, and not admitting it’s own lack of road infrastructure upgrades over two decades.
Langford did the opposite. They planned many roads, and began connecting roads well before the growth arrived. Yes, there is some congestion in Langford now but it’s mostly frustration that traffic doesn’t always flow freely rather than long travel periods. Now imagine that Langford would be facing had it not built those roads. That’s what Sooke has to deal with.
