It's a squigly coast line, and the islands, etc.

That's why you build the wall inland slightly.  You do not have to follow the high tide line.

Then you lose all the prime waterfront real estate.

You build it a km inland with a gate and key code to access your waterfront real estate. Just tell the plebes on the other side the sea is lapping at the wall and is going to spill over any second and kill them all if they get close!

Not really.  You only exclude the waterfront that is 1-2 feet above sea level now.  That's hardly anything.

Also, Shelbourne might be the only true north-south Street in the urban core. Every other street, even east-west is off at an angle.

It skews east along the straight stretch.

Actually Shelbourne is a little off, too, but much less than Foul Bay.

Blame Captain Cook's compass I guess.

I like the 20 meter seal level rise scenario where Beacon Hill Park becomes an island.

It's interesting because the Hawaiian's thought Cook and his crew were gods and treated them as such. His outfit capitalized on this misconception until they were exposed as liars when a crewmate died snapping the Hawaiians out of the spell that they were dealing with immoral deities. The rest is history as they say....

Cook and his crew were welcomed by the Hawaiians, who were fascinated by the Europeans’ ships and their use of iron. Cook provisioned his ships by trading the metal, and his sailors traded iron nails for sex.

Seattle Times:

Why heat waves are hitting some Seattle neighborhoods harder

Race and wealth are critical factors defining whether Washington residents swelter in the sun or enjoy temperate summer days. The difference can be as much as 14.5 degrees, according to an analysis. Here's why.

The same day 98.1-degree heat hit the Georgetown neighborhood, where the median household income is about $52,100, residents in Magnolia, where the median household income is about $217,900, experienced about 84.4-degree temperatures, NPR found.

Do you think the Magnolia residents used large sheets made of shiny $1000 bills to reflect the sun's heat back - or towards Georgetown?  Why is every single leftist newspaper obsessed with race and class?  Here's an unpopular opinion:  most poor, but otherwise relatively healthy and able-bodied people in developed countries are so because of one or more of the following:

  • Bad life choices
  • Poor fiscal management
  • Poor work habits or effort
  • Substance abuse or other addiction(s)
