If 90% of vehicles will be electric inside of 9 years then why care about miles driven? Is there more to this than GHG emissions?

90% of BRAND NEW vehicles will be electric.  it'll still take 15-20 years to turn the entire fleet.

i wonder how they handle that cap.  who gets to sell the 10% ICE still?

Isn't there always?

British Columbia has introduced a plan to reach its legislated target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 with initiatives like slashing the number of kilometres driven by 25 per cent compared with last year and boosting the carbon tax.

Ahem...

2020 was a low point for kilometres driven. And they want to reduce that number by 25%?

Know it all.

The plan appears to be offloading the responsibility of reduced GHGs onto consumers while industry carries on. We also saw a surge in energy production subsidies since the NDP came into power.

Know it all.

"The latest strategy would increase the price of carbon pollution by meeting or exceeding the 2019 federal benchmark of $170 per tonne starting in 2023 through taxes consumers would pay on fuel and goods as well as by industry that emits carbon dioxide. On April 1, B.C.'s carbon tax rate rose from $40 to $45 per tonne."

We're driving farther than we have in the past few years due to road blockages, lol. So they can stick that where the sun don't shine. Also we're finding it increasingly difficult to find grocery items we've bought for years so are visiting quite a few more stores that we have to drive to. We miss Oxford Foods for a lot of odds and ends. Who knew that Nestles Quik would all but vanish. And it's nothing to do with Covid as they had disappeared before the pandemic.

And there were no co-morbidities that contributed to these deaths?

I think you would almost always have to have one.   Or at least some serious old age.

Agreed, so why isn't this being reported?

I think they're simply stating the numbers of folks who died due to the heat.

If you had cancer, and died from the heat ... you still died due to the heat.

If you had COVID and died from the heat ... you still died due to the heat.

If you just had a sad and sorry constitution and died from the heat ... you still died due to the heat.

They're reporting the number of folks who ... died due to the heat.

The COP26 menu is ‘like serving cigarettes at a lung cancer conference’

Climate and conservation groups have questioned the sustainability of the COP26 menu, which is almost 60 per cent meat or dairy based.
