Canada Day 2015

The full moon added to the drama.  The last pic looks like palm trees with the moon as the sun in the background.  Tropical, like our recent hot weather.

Beautiful. Thanks, Gary.

Anyone else notice the two lulls during the show? Twice I thought the show was over before it was over.

And the crowds leaving after the show - the most pedestrians you will EVER see at this intersection (Esquimalt at Tyee). :)

It also seemed a bit shorter than last year.

BC Day 2015

BC Day fireworks from our balcony. It was a last minute decision to shoot them so in my rush to setup I forgot to switch out of "continuous-focus" mode. This resulted in a few slightly out-of-focus seconds here and there, but I have high standards and I'm nit picking.  Pump up the volume on this one. :)

I'm good without the crowds, but can we get the gunpowder smell on smell-o-vision? :P

I miss that smell wafting through the neighbourhood at Halloween.

Police closed English Bay Beach due to record Celebration of Light crowds on Disney night

This has never happened before in the 26 years of Celebration of Light history.

Where around the CRD can you legally purchase fireworks nowadays/leading up to Halloween?

You can't. You'll need to head up to Parksville/Qualicum, I think. That is if they still sell them.

I'm pretty sure they are not in the running for the "fireworks merchandiser of the year" award.

Vesuvius store on salt spring. Buy a ferry card, save yourself 30% on the fare.

Fire works disaster in Mexico

CNN Explosions ripped through a fireworks market north of Mexico City on Tuesday, killing at least 29 people and sending columns of smoke into the sky.

Seventy-two people were injured, said Eruviel Avila, governor of the State of Mexico.
Three minors are expected to be transferred to a hospital in Galveston, Texas, for treatment of extreme burns after the blast in Tultepec, about 40 kilometers (about 25 miles) north of Mexico
