Paletteable Pottery and Art Studio

Matick's Farm is a beautiful little shopping center in Saanich.  It's often our destination bike ride for brunch at Adriane's Tea Garden.  They've recently built a really nice looking new building on southern end of their property that houses a medical clinic and the Palettable Art Studio.  The studio had moved from Broadmead Village and just opened.  It's a place where you paint your own ceramics.  You don't make the ceramics, they're already made and sitting on shelves.  What you do at this studio is the final painting step - to whatever you like.  The studio then fires and glazes your piece and you pick it up a week later.  They also do canvas and will be adding the ability to fire glass soon as well.  Check them out at: https://www.facebook...811476985597958

I find the architecture at Mattick's Farm (I am thinking especially of the newer buildings) very attractive and harmonious with its setting. Always enjoy my treks out there.

Inspired and innovative designs of wood structures in smaller urban BC centres and mid-rise construction were in the spotlight at the 2016 Wood Design Awards in BC, presented by Wood WORKS! BC. Included in the awards were many impressive large public buildings including a museum, visitor centre and a diplomatic property located outside of BC and Canada.

The 12th annual awards event at the Vancouver Convention Centre recognized leadership in advancing wood use in design and building while being an opportunity to publicly salute and celebrate structural and architectural achievement using wood.

There were 103 nominations in 13 categories from all over the province, as well as some national and international submissions, including England, Germany, Japan, China, South Korea and Taiwan for the new International Wood Design category.

I went to that little shopping place a couple weeks, it was home to the only art knapp in victoria, only to discover the art knapp was closing, the woman working there said it was being replaced by a liquor store.

anyway it kind of reminded me of that sopping place, where the kardashians have their store dash in california, i've only seen it on tv but had the same kind of look to it
