This will be the definitive list of well-known locations with little-known new names. Please contribute.

Place #1: "Meet you at the Quality Inn. You know, off the highway."
"What?"
"You know, the old Waddling Dog".
"Oh, right".

Place #2: "Meet you at the Oaks restaurant, right on Oak Bay Avenue."
"Where's that? Never heard of it".
You know, the old Blethering Place"
"Ah, yes".

The Bay closed, what, 13 years ago? I can't believe there are young adults right now for whom going to The Bay is a distant childhood memory.

Good one. That one always causes confusion with us old timers that don't spend a lot of time out there.

I still call every nightclub by the name it had when I was known to make the odd appearance in one.

Know it all.

Wednesday is my regular bowling night and I haven't missed a day in months, but when I drove into the parking lot the other day...right through the chain link fence and into a huge pot hole, I knew for certain that was the last time I would ever bowl at Mayfair Lanes.

I am pushing hard to get the traffic circle re-built here.

I still go to Woodward's, but I always end up at the Bay. The other day I happened to mention the Canadian Tire behind K-Mart. The person who I was talking to was certain that I was mistaken (there's no Canadian Tire at Uptown!).

You mean HUDSON'S BAY correct? The store branding changed about a year or so ago. No more "the Bay".

"My niece lives in those apartments off Cook Street, behind the orphanage"

A typical menu for the orphans during the week included:

Sunday - roast beef
Monday - soup and cold meat
Tuesday - boiled meat and potatoes
Wednesday - soup
Thursday - boiled meat and potatoes
Friday - soup
Saturday - soup and boiled mutton

Nobody, and I mean nobody calls 5th Street Bar & Grill by its real name, 5th Street Wood Fired Rotisserie.
