Gas in the UK runs at &1.30 which is about $2.60. Funny country, pounds in money, weight in pounds, miles in distance, litres in gas, celsius in temps, feet in height, you're never quite sure what you're getting.

Well once upon a time especially in the East End of London England was the land of jellied eel and blood pie. Yum. ![]()

No idea how that post got on this thread it was supposed to be a response to the other thread talking about LJ's vacation in the UK and all the odd things found there - not on a "gas prices" thread. Feel free to delete lol.....

How much did getting rid of the carbon tax drop prices? How long did it take for the prices to go right back up sans tax? We're getting hosed! (that's a gas pun for aastra)

I’m not very sophisticated, so I struggle to understand the huge price differential we see. Sure, a little more due to freight to the island I can understand. But 40 cents a litre?

I do feel like prices are a lot lower than a year ago though. Am I wrong? 167.9, wasn't it in the $2 range last year at start of summer?

The union representing 35K workers is lobbying for provincially regulated employees to be allowed to work from home full-time, where possible, to offset “an undue burden” caused by soaring gas prices.
Following the launch of a US and Israeli bombing campaign against Iran on Feb. 28, those prices surpassed the $2 barrier.
It's more than a month after the strikes, which UN experts termed flagrant violations of international law, and the Strait of Hormuz is essentially closed to commercial traffic. Five or six tankers are getting through each day instead of the typical 140—from the transit route of one-fifth of the world’s oil.
