No. But it’s easy to get some cyclists worked up. How fast will the re-supply be snapped up? Might take a few Re supplies until everyone has a near full tank everyone currently desires.

Saanich police said at 7:40 AM traffic was blocking roads again and BC Transit was detouring routes (although I don't see any sign of that on their site or Nextride) https://twitter.com/...359026294321170

There’s one video showing a cyclist kicking a vehicle. Motorists should know not to block bike lanes, but are the dramatics really necessary, that kick to someone’s vehicle?

I thought the cyclists were all a symbol of peace, harmony and being one with the world?  Why the violence?

Where's the convoy now?  God forbid they take a wrong turn and end up in Shawnigan Lake.

Demand for gasoline continued to exceed supply in the capital region on Friday.

Erik Gault, head of operations for Peninsula Co-op, said the company had a good supply of gas at about noon Friday, but by about 3:30 p.m, eight of its 12 Victoria-area service stations were out.

Gault said Co-op was ready to comply with a new provincial rule limiting customers to 30 litres of fuel for personal vehicles per station visit, although technical changes to allow the company to control amounts might not come into effect until today or Sunday. “We’re on it with our software people.”

Gault doesn’t expect the problem of stations running out of gas to go away for up to 10 days, although he hopes things will quiet down on the weekend, when demand usually subsides, to give staff members a chance to catch their breath after a busy few days.

B.C. Transit said Friday it has enough fuel and buses to accommodate extra passengers whose vehicles have been curbed because of fuel shortages.

The provincial government is encouraging drivers to carpool and take transit as gas stations are pinched by drastically reduced fuel supply.

Who comes up with this wizardry?  The soccer mom filling up her mini-van ain't taking transit this weekend.  She is instead today on social media figuring out who has gas, and plans to stop at 2 or 3 stations today to fill it up.

Yup.

And obviously every time people leave the house they’ll be taking advantage of gas stations alike their route. It would be irresponsible not to, when we know our only pipeline is down and shortages are everywhere.

Pro tip though: if you absolutely have to fill up, there are no shortages in Mill Bay. As soon as you cross the Malahat you’re good.

Real rationing is presumed to be something that's in place for many months, if not years. Such rationing is normally associated with some form of "stamp" which you must hand over in order to receive your goods.

Rationing as per WW2 isn't where we're at, so I'm not sure what better method might be employed?

So people stop at two different gas stations, what on earth would you propose at this point in time as an alternative to what's been put in place?

I can be pretty critical of government at all three levels ... but at some point the critique becomes complaining, which rapidly turns into whining, all in the absence of any suggestion of an alternative.

I mean come on! ... give it a rest!

Yellow is partially or fully out of fuel.  Blue is good.  Red is definitely empty of all fuel.

Good luck!

No rationing.  Free market, including increased prices ("gouging" permitted and encouraged).  30L max. of fuel is not going to make you jump on the bus or combine 3 trips into 1.  $6/L fuel price will make you think twice about taking all 30L.

Unlike toilet paper people can only stock up on a limited amount of gas. The Malahat is open both ways and 24/7 at the moment and our gas comes from the US so the run on gas should quiet down in a few days.

I guess, but that simply leads to the major oil companies getting richer, and your local, independent gas station being hated for gouging by the local folks who used to be regulars.

This is really just another example of bad messaging on the part of the Province, in that this isn't classic rationing at all, rather it's a somewhat mild attempt to simply slow down what was an ever developing rush on gasoline in southwestern B.C., in order that gas stations can get stocked back up, at which point rush demand will drop, and things will return to relative normalcy.

It's already working, and will likely start to work even better as soon as folks realize that gas supply chains aren't "gone", they're simply being temporarily readjusted to deal with the realities of some extremely bad weather.

“Empty of all fuel?” I don’t think so. I just talked to a gas station operator and he told me once 87 is out, they shut down. That means 89, 91, and 94 where it’s available are still there, just not being sold. So we’re not quite in as dire straights as we might appear.

Also, GasBuddy has proven very unreliable as things change at any moment but it can take hours to accurately be updated on the app.

That's good.  Work from home.  Leave the gas to the emergency plumber that really needs it for work.

If you’re a grocery store overnight re-stocker, you don’t have that option.

If we run out of gas, nobody has the option.

At $6/L at least the stock-person can get to work, even if its costs him two hours wages (in gas) to get to and from work.  Rather than zero wages today if he calls in "no gas" and misses an entire shift from this week's pay.
