Property taxes are broken down.
A receipt for a can of Cola Cola will show its shelf price, its enviro fee, its deposit fee, and its tax.
Gasoline masks a lot of hidden costs. Governments don't like to show us what they are. Why not? Because they're extremely high, those hidden costs. Government wants you to think you're just paying 5% GST.
I thought you knew all the tax amounts.. That's what's got you all fired up.. The average person doesn't care... I'll have to print my receipt one day and have a look... I hate wasting the paper though.
As for the can of coke, the shelf price needs to be broken up in your scenario... The shelf price of the gas is on the pump.

That's not quite right. The 'total' price is on the pump. You don't see the taxes.
Imagine, if you saw $1.449/litre on the pump, but your final purchase price was $2.089. People would start asking a lot of questions.

Oh they include GST on there right... I see what you mean.. But they break out GST on the receipt.. I'm a big proponent of total price on the shelf.. So I like how gas is priced.. If I don't like the price I suppose I go somewhere else. No changes necessary.. Year and a half of car ownership then I'm done for the most part.

Hmm, I could have sworn that some (or all?) gas pumps in BC show the prices on the pump, broken down by the various taxes etc.?
IMHO based on my own observations: when oil goes up, or other factors affect fuel demand, prices tend to jump immediately. They rarely seem to fall at the same pace that they go up, it usually lags. I suppose its mostly gas station/oil refineries that benefit from that.

I saw $196.9 tonight, an encouraging trend.

Perhaps the market is testing us? at $210 the gas station I drove by twice was empty both times. It's interesting to compare this the the flood. I don't remember the price budging up much but the limiting to 30 liters sure boosted sales. Busy gas stations for a while there.

^ Probably a few more superyachts out of this gig for them! I have been accused of having trust issues. I can't really deny it actually. I have trust issues now.... Then again, their jobs are to be convincing liars so can you blame me?

What’s the difference between viewing a clear cut off the side of a highway, or a city off the highway?

They aren’t environmentalists. They just play one on on TV.I remember a few years back Jane Fonda taking a private helicopter trip over the Fort Mac oil sands operations, omg. Don’t these people have managers to whisper “that’s tone deaf” in their ears?

With gas prices expected to rise even more, BC’s premier suggests drivers ditch the car keys and take the bus if costs become out of reach.
During a Friday press briefing, John Horgan pointed to public transit as a solution for motorists who can’t afford to fill up their tank at local service stations.
“In our urban centres, [we have] sophisticated public transit systems that are options if prices become too unaffordable in the short-term,” Horgan said.

“Those prices at the pump are a direct result of Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine,” Horgan said.
So BC taxpayers should pay for these cheques? That’ll teach Vlad.

ICBC to the rescue once again. Didn't the Liberals just take from ICBC to balance budgets?
