I’m hearing it’ll be a giant bicycle valet parking compound.

Know it all.

We had one downtown, but it closed until the spring because so few people ride bikes here in the fall and winter.

Well Utrecht, NL isn't much bigger than us....

They have a slightly bigger population.

Utrecht is a city in the Netherlands, known for its medieval center. It has tree-lined canals, Christian monuments and a venerable university...

Area: 99.21 km²
Population: 1.307 million (2019) Eurostat

Population

 (1 January 2022)[2][4][5]

 • Municipality 361,742

 • Density 3,807/km2 (9,860/sq mi)

 • Urban 489,734

 • Metro 656,342

Your citation links are messed up. Also, I did a bike tour and rode through Utrecht a few years ago. Definitely not 1.307 million people. You can argue that it's not a fair comparison because it's Europe and the NL in general is one massive conurbation with highly advanced infrastructure. But I don't think that means we can't follow them as an example.

Nice to know you understand the comparison with Europe is apples and oranges to the local situation.

Well, we tried to follow them, and we still failed. The Dutch looked at our bike lane designs and asked what on God’s earth we were thinking.

OK you guys let's get back to the topic of the day.

Just to make aastra happy I got off my ass and went and took a development picture for him.

This shot was taken at lunchtime today. Development score zero, nilch, nada, dick.

Ok that wasn't entirely true. There was some development by this guy.

At first I thought this was a picture of a downtown Victoria street, but with the presence of only one tent I knew it couldn't be.

So is this a new sign re: a new development, or is it old news?

Why are there no dates on these signs?

I was thinking the same thing. Probably because it's not unusual for them to stay up for ages when potential projects go nowhere for years.

Hopefully, this proposal has more traction than the Uptown tower.

Right on the border, maybe they can squeak a Crystal Pool in there.

Towline, in case anyone missed that in the application.

Is there already two towers proposed for the Harvey's / Swiss Chalet property, as per the aerial rendering here?

So there would be a new little street inserted between this development and the gas station etc. along Douglas? And then the gas station etc. along Douglas would also be redeveloped?
