We all know those big glass panels on the front facade were (unfortunately) eliminated from the final design...

...but whatever happened to the art/advertising/whatever images that were supposed to go on the blank stairwell walls?

What will happen to those trees when they get in the way of that dumb video screen?

Shaw Cable moving studios into SOFMC

Shaw Cable TV is moving its production studios into Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre, giving the Salmon Kings greater potential spin-off exposure in the community.

"The lease is all signed up," confirmed Dave Dakers, general manager of the arena and president of the Salmon Kings hockey team.

The Shaw studios will take over a 2,000 square-foot space on the south end of the arena, fronting Caledonia Street.

"Depending on construction schedules, the Shaw production studios could be up and running in the arena by September," said Dakers.

Plus a scoreboard and cheaper tickets, he says.
"Beaver, ahoy!""The bridge is like a magnet, attracting both pedestrians and over 30,000 vehicles daily who enjoy the views of Victoria's harbour. The skyline may change, but "Big Blue" as some call it, will always be there."

And they might televise some of the mid-week games.

televising games is a good way to get fence sitters like me more interested in the team.

Visit my blog at: https://www.sidewalkingvictoria.com

It has a whole new look!

Yah televising, gets you interested, and once you're interested, you're more likely to wanna go to a game. Chicago's blackouts of all homegames for the blackhalks didn't go very well for them, and attendance plummetted, as did the team, not sure if they were related other than the management.

Walking by there today I saw some drywalling and stuff going on in there. Are the Shaw studios still a go? The Palladian crew must be moonlighting there. Shaw Tower didn't take this long.

From the T-C's review of the Cirque de Soliei show:

Those who attend subsequent performances should arrive early. Long lineups Thursday night meant some spectators missed the beginning of the show.

Can we expect more letters to the editor griping about the slow entrance procedures at SOFMC?

A cool little storage box too. Not sure if your helmet can fit in.
