I’m talking about charging stations, like gas stations.
There is only one at uptown, I think. And it’s not even a station, just some stalls.
People require services when they drive around. The electric chargers at random parking lots don’t provide them.
What percentage of cars do you think have their own reserved, for-them-only spot to park at night? In a house driveway or garage, or in an apartment or townhouse parking lot or garage?
90%? 95%?
All of those can and should and probably will be wired in time.
Then also maybe workplaces.
Thoings evolve. Why complain now when we don't know how it all plays out?
We went from horse and buggy to automobiles relatively quickly and I'm sure there were fears then too.

You're not always going to be driving close to home. I'm about 300km from my house right now. I stopped at two gas stations so far just to top up.

Will you sleep somewhere tonight?
That place, likely in a few years, will have a place to plug in. And perhaps long before you own an electric car.
The average car travels less than 30 miles per day. And there will always be provisons for those that travel more.

Washington state aims to make electric vehicles affordable for anyone who drives a car—not just the well-heeled consumers who tend to be early adopters of new technologies.
State officials announced $45 million in rebates on electric vehicles Tuesday, with the point-of-sale discounts to be available in August to people buying or leasing a more climate-friendly car, whether new or used.
The rebates—up to $9,000 for leasing an electric vehicle, $5,000 for buying a new one, and $2,500 for buying a used one—target lower-income drivers.

Washington residents earning up to $45,180 a year for a single person or $93,600 for family of four, are eligible.

That's pretty crazy.
There is only enough funding for 5,000 cars though. Washington State has 3 million cars.

Hertz (NASDAQ: HTZ) reported its earnings for the first quarter of 2024 today, announcing that it is continuing to lose money on its electric vehicle investment and plans to dump even more EVs from its fleet.
Hertz said it had increased the number of EVs it will let go of by 10,000 units, now planning to sell 30,000 of its purchased electric cars this year. In January, it said it would get rid of 20,000 units after it felt $245 million of incremental net depreciation on the value of its EV fleet.
The losses continued in Q1. Hertz said it incurred a $195 million charge to vehicle depreciation to write down the EVs held for sale. However, vehicle depreciation as a whole increased by $588 million, or $339 on a per-unit basis.

According to a news report tonight, EV's are depreciating at a much higher rate than ICE vehicles.
Part of the problem is the fact that Tesla keeps dropping it's prices, making the price you paid way too much.
Everyone trying to sell a used Tesla is going to take a pretty big haircut.

Nobody wants to pay $20,000 for an 85" TV.
EV prices falling is a good thing.
