test drive the vw egolf...pretty close to my old gti...but all electric
Is that the 12-18-month-delivery-with-the-200km-range-for-$36K eGolf? Lots of pretty colours though, if you're willing to spend an extra $3K.

that's the one...and you notice i said test drive, i know they are a long wait - the new models slated for 2020/21 will have significantly better range and an all new platform
but as to the price;
$5k from the feds, $5k from the province, and trade in value would bring the price down i think...maybe even a $750 grant for a home charging station...my range today after a full charge is over 250km and there is already one and a half years use on the battery
mine is peacock green (looks black in the dark) - $0 standard colour

But I like the orange...
So the 12-18 month wait is for 2019 low(er)-range, old platform models? Because that is pushing delivery into 2020... Is availability of the 2020/2021 models expected to be improved? I'm only going by what's on VW's site today.
If the new ones are are all-new (i.e. new platform) then is test driving the current unavailable, less desirable model worthwhile?

Here’s the latest “leaked” email to employees from Musk:
“As of yesterday, we had over 50,000 net new orders for this quarter. Based on current trends, we have a good chance of exceeding the record 90,700 deliveries of Q4 last year and making this the highest deliveries/sales quarter in Tesla history!”
and yet their stock is tanking, Bond Yield is 9% which will cause a serious problem as it means they cant raise any real money through floating more Bonds https://markets.busi...25-usu8810laa18
They also have a few other bonds showing similar crazy yields
and then there is this piece

Carmageddon Sinks Tesla’s Bonds by Wolf Richter • May 20, 2019 • 95 Comments • Email to a friendTesla is steeped in chaos – and chaos is absolutely the opposite what a complex manufacturing, distribution, and retail operation needs.

...my 2000 GTI was orange - loved it...
...yes, availability should improve, and the new platform, range, etc. is specifically designed for e-vehicles - not just an adapted Golf for example...
...the test drive would just confirm how well built the vw is, and what current models feel like - expect improved everything from new models...
...if you are keen to go electric,i suggest buying a used leaf or somesuch from Motorize in Sidney and waiting until 2021 for new models...

A report on Global News last night had several traffic engineers etc. explaining that when autonomous vehicles are the majority on the road they expect congestion to increase by 30%, sounds good huh?

- https://www.investor...-delivery-data/Nio (NIO) shares advanced after the Chinese Tesla (TSLA) rival posted better-than-expected Q1 earnings. The firm also increased deliveries of its ES8, despite a fall in subsidies.
The strong delivery data heaps further pressure on its American rival, which is battling to get Chinese expansion plans off the ground amid waning investor sentiment. Tesla stock has plunged more than 50% since early August 2018.
Nio had adjusted per share loss of 36 cents, better than the 47-cent per-share loss expected by Wall Street analysts, according to Yahoo Finance. Revenue of $243 million was also higher than views.
Management said ES8 deliveries totaling 3,989 had exceeded the company's expectations even in the face of EV subsidy reductions, slowing macroeconomic conditions, increased competition, and seasonal factors related to the Chinese New Year holiday. However, it pointed to a challenging environment going forward.
