The Charger Daytona SRT Concept is a preview of the first battery-powered muscle car the brand will launch for the 2024 model year.

Dodge is ending the production of its current internal combustion engine-powered Charger sedan and Challenger coupe models in December 2023 and will succeed them with a production version of the concept, which Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis said is "not a science project" and is very close to what customers will be able to buy.

The Charger Daytona SRT is a two-door hatchback with seating for four with styling inspired by Dodge's muscle cars of the 1960s and 1970s, but with a modern twist.

Tesla has begun rolling out an early release of FSD Beta version 10.69 over the weekend to the first batch of testers and announced a significant price hike for the self-driving software option.

In a post on Twitter, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the price increase will be active for customers ordering the Full Self-Driving package starting on September 5 once update 10.69.2 will have fully rolled out.

That is 25 percent price increase seeing as FSD currently costs $12,000 in the United States. The new update appears very consistent judging by the release notes, bringing a number of improvements related to driving smoothness, lane centering and changing, unprotected left turns, protected right turns, false slowdowns, creeping for visibility at intersections, speed when entering highways, identification of red light runners and much more.

Tesla also notes that it has upgraded to a new two-stage architecture that enables improved velocity estimates for far away crossing vehicles by 20 percent, while using one-tenth of the compute.

Oh oh. Cracks are starting to appear in the non-Tesla charging infrastructure. Chargers are breaking and are not being repaired, high charging (electricity) rates are not being achieved, and complexity with kiosks is still a problem.

One prominent YouTube channel is reporting the statistics generated are not based on user experience, but whether or not the vehicle connects. It can connect and charge in the single digits as opposed to 100-200kw.

One of the problems is that a significant part of the the non-Tesla charging infrastructure was part of the diesel gate settlement with VW. And so that operator has less incentive to keep chargers in good shape.

Ford Motor Co(F.N) said it will cut a total of 3,000 salaried and contract jobs, mostly in North America and India, as it restructures to catch up with Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) in the race to develop software-driven electric vehicles.

Ford Chief Executive Jim Farley has been saying for months that he believed the Dearborn, Mich. automaker had too many people, and that not enough of its workforce had the skills required as the auto industry shifts to electric vehicles and digital services.

The best reviews are from the people who bought one, and who have had some time to drive it, break a few things, and take note of faults.

The Rivian seems to be holding up OK. But they are likely losing money on every one sold.

The question is, will Mike K. cancel his cybertruck order and get in line for this instead?

May 2022 Tesla brand loyalty more than doubles year-over-year and leads all brands industry-wide

screenshot-ihsmarkit.com-2022.08.26-07_28_05.png

Tesla's May 2022 brand loyalty of 63% is exceptional when viewed from just about any perspective: it is more than double its May 2021 loyalty of 29.4%; it is the highest brand loyalty not only of any luxury brand but of any brand industry-wide in May; it is 12.3 PP above luxury runner-up Lincoln; it is one of only two positive year-over-year results among the 20 luxury brands (with Lincoln); it is the ninth consecutive monthly Tesla loyalty greater than 60%; finally, it is the only brand to break the 60% threshold in brand loyalty in the inventory shortage-impacted 2021 or May CYTD 2022 time periods.

I like it all except for the front grill. Which is the face so it falls flat. It looks like a deer caught in the headlights. It should look like a cougar staking a deer.

Zero tolerance wheel wells huh? This does remind me of the Johnson st Bridge in that it's a concept that would require re-inventing the wheel.
