What’s the Swiss uptake on ev’s? They are nowhere near as prevalent as they are here.

As of 2021, the Swiss EV market made up 38.8% of the country’s total vehicle market, with battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) capturing 9.9%, plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) 8.3%, and hybrids (HEVs) 20.6%. These figures demonstrate a growth that set sail over a decade ago.

Canada can build an electric vehicle industry worth $48B a year — but it must act now: report

Must act now...

Chill, CBC. We're going to strike regulations just such that Americans wanting to sell cars here will have to build some here. It's the Canadian way.

Did you read the report?  Canada's New Economic Engine - Clean Energy Canada

Is SFU a government institution?  What's your concern here now?  Didn't they just announce Canada has a plant assembling..?

Key Takeaways

  • If Canada plays its cards right, it has the potential to build a domestic EV battery supply chain that could support up to 250,000 jobs by 2030 and add $48 billion to the Canadian economy annually.
  • Jobs in Canada's battery supply chain are dependant on swift government action. In a scenario where no additional government action is taken, the supply chain would create just 60,000 jobs and contribute only $12 billion in GDP—fulfilling only about a quarter of both its jobs and GDP potential.
  • The report identifies six ways in which Canada should focus its efforts to fulfill its battery-building potential. While Canada could do it all, a more effective strategy would double down on a few key stages, such as EV assembly, battery cell manufacturing, clean battery materials production.

If you're going to comment on a headline, you should probably read the article first... but you do you. shrug.

SFU is a public university.

And that means the Feds control the reporting?  SFU needs have authorization and report editing first?  You don't put much value into a report saying that the Feds should move faster to attain some economic benefit in the EV age?

Hoovie’s Garage on YouTube says their range dropped significantly with the F150 Lightning, about half, at around 37F. Not good.

According to reports out of Germany, Audi’s Artemis project is on the chopping block.

Originally announced in 2020, Artemis was set to spawn pioneering  Audi vehicles that would feature highly automated driving technology. The first model was set to arrive as early as 2024 and be a “highly efficient” EV.

However, it appears things weren’t going smoothly. According to Automobilwoche, the model was slated to feature a Level 4 autonomous driving system but the project has “shown little progress amid delays in creating advanced new software at VW Group’s Cariad unit.” As a result, VW Group CEO Oliver Blume is expected to kill the project and present a “revamped software roadmap” to the supervisory board on December 15th.

Plugin electric vehicles took 89.3% share of the auto market in Norway in November, down from 91.2% year on year. Full electrics (BEVs), however, grew their share YoY, from 73.8% to 81.6%. Plugin hybrids continued to tail off, dropping to 7.7% from 17.4% YoY. Overall auto volumes were 19,513 units, up almost 28% YoY. November’s overall best seller was the Tesla Model Y.

This shows promise. We need more non luxury in the EV space. For in town delivery and townie living a basic vehicle that doesn’t require a brain implant to open the door should have a market. https://driving.ca/a...d-electric-cars

Not sure if I follow here. Demand is there. Waiting lists are long. But somehow Ontario should chip in to help Ontarians buy?

"More manufacturing is positive, I'm very supportive of that," said Cara Clairman, the CEO of Plug'n Drive, a non-profit facility in north Toronto that works to accelerate the adoption of EVs in Canada.

"The challenge is: where are those vehicles going to be sold?"

Clairman said the wait lists for EVs in Ontario are "still way too long," and despite the projected increase in production, many of them may end up being shipped to B.C. or Quebec, which provide rebates of up to $8,000 to lease or buy a new EV. In addition, the province has no current incentives for potential buyers to get an EV.

"The demand is there. It's the supply that's not there," she said.
