^Are you sure you have a heat pump and not an air conditioner?

With only one outlet, I would expect it is an A/C unit.

Heat pumps just move hot air either from outside to inside or inside to outside.

Life's a journey......so roll down the window and enjoy the breeze.

I'm not sure all are duel-use (heat and cool).  I'm no expert though.

It's quite impressive how efficient they are, but of course they are not cheap, either up-front or I suppose ongoing maintenance when they get a few years old.  And I think they start to fail after 10 or 15 years.  Your baseboard heater might last 50 years.

They are not. We had one installed at the shop last summer, the heating option was a few hundred more.

Probably works out to less than what you pay overall for heat and I don't have to chop no wood.
Monthly average for all of 2022 was under 100/mo. That includes cooling.

Do you have a gas stove, dryer and hot water tank? Or is everything other than the gas stove on hydro?

I get heat from my wood twice. Once when splitting it. Again when burning it :)

“Car” sales? Or passenger vehicle sales? That’s a major difference.

The Model Y, which saw a 20% price cut, became the second most-researched vehicle last week, up from 70th place the week before. The Model 3, which now boasts a $43,990 price tag, was the 11th most-researched vehicle on Edmunds' site, up 36 spots from the previous week.

Model Y was the 70th and Model 3 the 47th most researched car, until Tesla slashed prices.

Just goes to show what reality looks like compared to Twitter and EV chat forums.

Demand For Tesla's EVs Is Ridiculous Thanks To Price Cuts

While there were concerns about the impact of Tesla cutting prices significantly, it's working as expected, and stores are booming.

General Motors plans to invest nearly $1 billion in four U.S. plants to support production of components for electric vehicles as well as its next generation of V-8 engines, signaling gas-powered trucks and performance cars are here for the foreseeable future.

The $918 million investment, which GM announced Friday, is despite the automaker’s plans to exclusively offer all-electric consumer vehicles by 2035. It’s the latest example of legacy automakers such as GM having to balance their current lineup of vehicles with emerging EVs.

“Our commitment is to an all-EV future, no doubt about it,” Gerald Johnson, global head of GM’s manufacturing, told reporters after the announcement. “We know that has a horizon and between here and there, there are a lot of internal combustion engine customers that we don’t want to lose.”

GM does a lot more than just consumer vehicles so it makes a lot of sense for them to keep working on V8 ICE.

The push by a group of state lawmakers in Wyoming last week to introduce a bill banning the sale of electric vehicles by 2035 elicited as many sarcastic snickers as concerned frowns.

Even the backers of the bill admitted the effort was mostly symbolic, a supportive nod to the state’s oil and gas industry – a huge job-creation machine and revenue generator. And even if the proposed bill becomes law, its six Republican authors concede it will be difficult to enforce and unlikely to make an impact.

But as a direct response to recent moves by 15 states, including California and New York, to ban the sale of gas-powered vehicles by 2035, the bill points up the increasingly desperate attempts by small jurisdictions who tie their economic prosperity to fossil fuels to have their voices heard over the loud chorus singing the praises of the green movement.

And Wyoming, like so many sparsely populated, resource-rich states that are not the darlings of Washington insiders and the coastal elite, is trying to get creative to make its concerns known.

Tesla to announce $3.5 billion Semi manufacturing facility in Nevada on Tuesday

He illustrated his commitment by saying he would join Elon Musk and the team at Tesla on Tuesday for an unveiling of plans to build a $3.5 billion manufacturing facility in Northern Nevada for the company’s all-electric semi-trucks. It was unclear if the state will offer tax breaks or other incentives to the company.

They produce at least 3,000 per week in Texas.  But the factory is equipped to make 5,000 per week.

Tesla is gradually moving towards the planned level of 250,000 Model Y per year. Here are some of the previously announced milestones:

  • Summer 2022: production rate of 1,000/week (about 50,000/year)
  • September 17, 2022: 10,000th Model Y produced
  • October 30, 2022: 20,000th Model Y produced
  • December 15, 2022: production rate of 3,000/week (about 150,000/year)

Tesla’s exceptional sales record in California shows that, even though many other EV options exist, it is still the ideal choice in what could be considered the country’s hotspot for electric cars.

Sales figures released by the California Department of Energy show Tesla sold 212,586 units in California in 2022, accounting for just under 73 percent of the 292,496 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sold in the State collectively across all manufacturers.

It’s no longer just the bad guy who’s being charged when there’s a crime. Ford has unveiled the 2023 F-150 Lightning Pro SSV (Special Service Vehicle), a version of its electric pickup that’s purpose-built for police work.
