What is the TL:DR synopsis of the EV industry in Canada, as we head for the first government mandated forced injection of these vehicles into our society?
I have never seen a technology not asked for by the people who will be forced to use it, like I have with these EVs. People loved their cellphones, and embraced smart phones.
We loved appliance advancements, the PC, and so much other innovation. But here, we supposedly love EVs so much, the government has to physically force us into them over a short period of time.
This tells me government is on the wrong side of history and that people at large do not want, and are not asking for, this technology shift.

Now couple that to the rising cost of electricity and all that winning must lead to one thing: forced adoption.

The good news is you can buy an ICE up to 2035 and use your existing ICE indefinitely.
There is a good chance we as a species ruin civilization well before 2050, the end of life date for your new 2035 ICE purchase.

Because the battery capacity degrades over time, and charging is a daily pain in the butt, EVs make sense for urban daily commuting. That’s about it.
ICE vehicles make sense for every commercial application, for road trips, for people who drive >100km daily, or who want the ability to do those things.

I think we just need to get realistic about ev capabilities and become honest about use cases where they make sense.

I think you’ve oversimplified it.

U.S. Senate Republicans late Friday released a revised tax and budget bill that would end the $7,500 tax credit on new electric vehicle sales and leases on September 30 as well as the $4,000 tax credit for used EVs.
The prior version would have ended the credit for new sales 180 days after the bill was signed into law, 90 days for used vehicles and immediately ended the credit for leased vehicles not assembled in North America and meeting other requirements.
Republicans have taken aim at EVs on a number of fronts, a reversal from former President Joe Biden’s policy that encouraged electric vehicles and renewable energy to fight climate change and reduce emissions.
The House of Representatives version would allow the $7,500 new-EV tax credit to continue through the end of 2025, and through the end of 2026 for automakers that have not yet sold 200,000 EVs before killing it.

I find this a bit funny. There is nearly zero the MSM can report on this that is bad. So the MSM is just ignoring the story.
And it's quite a story, when you think about it.
I talked about this type of autonomy before when we were talking about the Jasper fires. I'm certain fire trucks could have been driven around in there and saved houses with this type of tech.

Jim Farley, the CEO of Ford, said on Friday that the Chinese EV industry posed a serious threat to the American automaker.
Farley was speaking to the author Walter Isaacson during a panel at the Aspen Ideas Festival when he was asked about China's EV market. Farley said he'd made about six or seven trips to China in the past year.
"It's the most humbling thing I have ever seen. Seventy percent of all EVs in the world, electric vehicles, are made in China," Farley said.
"They have far superior in-vehicle technology. Huawei and Xiaomi are in every car," Farley added. "You get in, you don't have to pair your phone. Automatically, your whole digital life is mirrored in the car."
