The Most Impressive Tesla FSD V14 Videos You Need to See

With the release of FSD V14.1 to influencers, we now have our first look at Tesla’s latest and greatest version of FSD. Recently, we discussed the updated UI and new features in this FSD update, which is version 2025.32.8.5.

While the latest version of FSD has only been available for about a day and a half, early access testers have already put it through its paces and tested a variety of scenarios.

[...]

Drive Thru

Here’s another impressive clip from DirtyTesla showing the vehicle’s capabilities at a drive-thru. This is exactly what Elon means when he says FSD V14.3 will start to feel sentient. In this video, the vehicle stopped at the ordering spot without the driver having to hit the brakes at all. What’s more impressive is that as soon as Chris stopped talking and completed his order, the vehicle moved up. It then proceeds to the pick-up window, only to stop again for Chris to get his food. It finally drives off after Chris grabs his food.

So your vehicle is listening to everything that is said in the car and tells Elon what you said?

Lyft to develop self-driving bus as autonomous vehicle hype builds
Autonomous Lyft shuttles could be coming to a city near you.

https://www.usatoday...ng/85797731007/

Lyft is developing a self-driving shuttle amidst AV hype
The robotaxi space is getting more competitive with Waymo, Tesla and Uber making major investments into the space. Lyft, on the other hand, seems to be going another route with autonomous vehicle technology. The company is partnering with BENTELER Mobility (a transportation-as-a-service platform) to develop autonomous shuttles.

Lyft and BENTELR Mobility's shuttles will be large autonomous vehicles capable of transporting multiple passengers to specific locations. These AVs will be larger than current robotaxi models in Waymo and Tesla's fleet. And will also be larger than the Lucid Gravity SUV, which seats up to seven adults, used for the upcoming Uber autonomous taxi service.

The company plans to deploy autonomous shuttles on its platform in the U.S. in late 2026, according to a blog post from Lyft announcing this new development.

Will they be caught by Ford?

2024:

Ford’s electric vehicle unit reported that losses soared in the first quarter to $1.3 billion, or $132,000 for each of the 10,000 vehicles it sold in the first three months of the year, helping to drag down earnings for the company overall.

What a disaster for Ford here. Maybe they expected Democratic governments to keep ratcheting up incentives and help bail out EV manufacturers. The Republicans could care less.

An abreviated version...some issues seldom discussed pro and con........EV vs ICE safety

JOHN DUCKER EV incentives are investment in safety Times Colonist10 Oct 2025

The question of safety doesn’t seem to receive much play in these debates. So what’s the deal? Are EVs safer than their gas engine counterparts?

One of the biggest advantages of EVs lies beneath your feet — the battery pack. Heavy lithium ion batteries sit low in the vehicle’s chassis, creating a lower centre of gravity than most gas-powered cars. That makes the EV much more resistant to rollovers — one of the deadliest types of crashes. European crash data from insurers shows that EVs have fewer serious rollovers and often maintain better stability control during emergency manoeuvres

Getting rid of a bulky engine block from the front of a vehicle allowed EV designers more freedom to engineer safer structures. Many electric cars have larger crumple zones which absorb impact energy more effectively. This flexibility allows automakers to shape the vehicle’s safety cage around its occupants rather than around the engine. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety also found that EV occupants had 40% fewer injury claims than gas powered vehicle.

Despite that, EV fires always seem to make a big splash, especially in social media. But, statistically, gasoline vehicles catch fire far more often. According to analysis from Climate Nexus, there are roughly 25 EV fires per 100,000 vehicles sold compared with more than 1,500 fires per 100,000 for gas powered vehicles. That’s not to say EV fires aren’t serious. When lithium ion batteries ignite   they are hard to extinguish. Fire departments have had to adapt new training and equipment to deal with so-called “thermal runaway” events.

That extra weight factor also poses greater wear and tear potential on roadway infrastructure like parking stops, guardrails and curbs.

Another safety concern involves what happens after an EV crash. Because of their high voltage systems, emergency responders face additional risks if the car’s system is not shut down properly. Battery fires require specialized techniques sometimes involving hours of cooling with large amounts of water.

Fire department training across Canada now involves handling these new hazards and automakers are working on clearer labelling and built-in disconnect systems.

The data shows EVs are less likely to catch fire, more stable in crashes and offer more passenger protection.

If EVs are proving cleaner, quieter and safer, then bringing back incentives isn’t just an environmental gesture, it’s an investment in road safety.

EV’s are far more likely to catch fire simply sitting in your garage. ICE fires happen during operation.

Ducker seems mostly negatives there.

The articles mentions some interesting and less frequently reported information. The challenges of an EV fire are clearly outlined as is the much less frequency of EV fires vs ICE car fires.

I have not seen data on the frequency of sitting in your garage fires comparison of ICE vs EVs.

I have seen recent notices about problems with Toyoto cars.

Owners of nearly 200,000 BMWs should not park in the garage because the vehicles could short circuit and catch fire. The fire risk is related to a problem with the engine starter, which can affect cars that are both parked and  in motion.

“Owners are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the remedy is complete,” NHTSA said in the “fire risk warning.”

BYD opens massive Brazil plant, its biggest investment outside Asia

Built on a former Ford site, BYD’s Bahia plant is expected to create 20,000 jobs and cement its 74 per cent share of Brazil’s EV market

The new complex, BYD’s largest facility outside Asia and the biggest electric vehicle factory in Latin America, represents an investment of R$5.5 billion (US$978 million).

Built on the grounds of a former Ford site, it will begin production with a capacity of 150,000 vehicles per year, expanding to 300,000 in a second stage.

The project is expected to generate more than 20,000 direct and indirect jobs once fully operational. Initial output includes the Song Pro plug-in hybrid SUV, the all-electric Dolphin Mini and the King hybrid sedan.

The company also unveiled a limited-edition Song Pro COP30 model powered by what it says is the world’s first plug-in hybrid flex-fuel engine, a technology designed for Brazil’s sugar cane-based ethanol market.

Only 30 units will be built, 29 of which will be donated to the United Nations climate summit COP30 in Belem next month. One will go to Lula as a gift to mark the country’s return to large-scale automotive production.

BYD’s growth in Brazil has been staggering. Since entering the passenger vehicle market in 2022, the company has sold more than 170,000 electrified cars, including fully electric and plug-in hybrid models, and now dominates the electric segment with 74.4 per cent of total sales, according to industry data.

The BYD Camacari plant, built on the former Ford site, will begin producing 150,000 vehicles a year. It's expected to produce 300,000 units in the second phase and up to 600,000 units at full capacity.

When I was in China earlier this year, their electric car offerings were plenty and looked well designed. More car culture than here that’s for sure. The design, manufacturing know how and capital is of more value at this point than cheap labour.

For the first time ever today I saw one of those electric VW vans on the road today. Actually not bad looking.

But they must be selling poor.

Our local school district was in the paper this week, worried about how they are going to fix their fleet of electric school buses if B.C. ferries won’t let them on under their new guidelines. Seaspan has said no, as well. The solution right now appears to be to get them into the off island heavy duty mechanic at the very first sign of trouble.

Smart policy.

Huge YouTube automotive channel says EV pick-up market is dead.

Ram has cancelled their fully electric truck. A half-dozen electric pick-up startups have gone bankrupt. Ford's Lightning still sucks and is losing sales. Cybertruck remains a terrible joke.

https://www.youtube....h?v=Uvz0_eleu74

"Now we're seeing this reversal of popularity of EV trucks, back to more basic gasoline trucks, more affordable vehicles."

I’m seeing so many rivians.

Personally I think they’d do better if they focused on smaller trucks. Why is there no electric version of the Maverick or Santa Cruz yet ?

There’s a bunch of smaller electric trucks set to come out soon and I think they’d probably sell better

I see Rivian sells even fewer pick-up units than Ford does the Lightning, by a huge margin, and Ford's EV truck sales are 5% of their total F-series sales over the last two years. Rivian's pick-up is the worst selling truck EV, currently.  :rtfm:
