Just my own experience. Couple years ago, was looking for a new car. Thought for sure it would be an all-electric however I as I looked and experimented I knew for sure I’d be suffering from constant range anxiety and wasn’t comfortable with possibilities of charging somewhere in the middle of the night when traveling.
Ended up with going with a plug-in hybrid and couldn’t be happier. Essentially any driving that I do in the capital region is on electric. When doing longer distance and operating in hybrid or straight combustion I’m getting great gas milage. Over the last couple decades, I’ve driven around seven different vehicles to the prairies and back and none of them have come even close to the milage I got from the hybrid.
The only downfall so far … I filled the tank beginning of August after a trip to SK and now for the last few weeks I’ve been switching the all-electric switch to save mode so that I can burn that tank of fuel off and refill with fresh gas. Still have little over quarter tank to go.

EV maker Tesla saw steady car sales in China in November 2025, as about 73,000 vehicles were delivered. Impressively, though, a closer look at the numbers shows that more people are choosing higher-end versions, such as the new Model Y L. In fact, the Model Y L made up around 27% of all Model Y sales, even though it costs about 28% more than the base version.

Great. I guess not enough room for a stroller and some groceries behind the back row yet... still need a van.

Flying cars take off: ‘World’s first’ airborne automobile finally in production — and its pricetag is soaring
The sky’s no longer a limit for automobiles.
Alef Aeronautics is turning sci-fi into reality by beginning production on the world’s first flying car, the Alef Model A Ultralight, which will likely be available to customers by early 2026.
“We are happy to report that production of the first flying car has started on schedule,” Jim Dukhovny, CEO of the California-based startup, said in a statement. “We’re finally able to get production off the ground.”
Manufactured at Alef’s Silicon Valley facility, the veritable electric Pegasus will take several months to complete.

If you think the adminisrtative approval process was long and complex for robotaxis imagine the challenges here?

Yeah, it'll never fly.

Me too. There is one here in Victoria that I'm aware of, but only one.

AI:
VW ID. Buzz sales in North America have been very slow, with roughly 1,162 units sold in the U.S. in 2024 and around 4,934 units total for North America (mostly U.S.) by late October 2025, struggling against strong competitors like Toyota Sienna and Kia Carnival, partly due to high price, limited range, and no U.S. manufacturing/incentives. Sales peaked early in 2025 (1,911 in Q1) but dropped after a two-month stop-sale in Q2 2025 for a rear-seat issue, with some sources calling it a "failure" in the U.S. market despite its "2025 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year" award.
^ That would mean about one for every 85,000 people in North America. Makes sense I guess.
AI says about 12M of the old VW vans sold worldwide.

VW should have made it an 8 seater, not a 6 seater.

Maybe it did not quite live up to the concept, either:

"The I.D. BUZZ is the next generation MPV. It is based on the new Modular Electric Drive Kit (MEB) and provides comfort and loads of space for long journeys. Its electric range as per the NEDC is up to 600 kilometres", explains Dr Frank Welsch, Member of the Board of Management Volkswagen Brand for the Development Division. The I.D. BUZZ takes on new energy inductively or from a charging station. At a charging power of 150 kW, it takes around 30 minutes to charge up to 80 per cent.

Release model:
The VW ID. Buzz range varies by model but expect around 370-410 km
and it's the ultimate vacation van, right? Vacation usually means you want range.
It also did not look as good as the concept. Close though. The full-feature model was pushing into $80 or $90k too.

I owned a 91 Westy. My favourite vehicle. I though this was lackluster. They never did understand their market. A hybrid would have worked with from the factory pop top and all the outdoor living hook ups from the integral battery but all the road trip worthiness of an ICE.
