He answered at the very end. Revenue is more predictable/stable now, and they need to expand big time and need cash for that.

They really do not, in lift capacity and reusability.
And Starlink is still doubling in customers every year and the next-gen satellites are 10-20x more capable. And the only ship that can launch them is Starship.
Their IPO is a forward valuation not a startup valuation.
Morningstar valuation: $780 billion
SpaceX IPO target: $1.75 trillion
Core SpaceX + Starlink: ~$611B
AI/X/xAI businesses: ~$170B
-----------------------------
Total fair value: ~$780B

Plus this is a much cheaper and less impactful way of putting satellites into orbit.

But you throw all this away right? All those rocket engines?
As Elon says, that's like throwing away the plane after each one-way trip.

That is probably still less than what is thrown away by a rocket launch.
Not Reused
Second stage
The upper stage that carries the satellite or spacecraft into orbit.
It reaches orbital velocity and is not recovered.
This is currently the largest part of Falcon 9 that is discarded each launch.
Small expendable hardware
Various separation devices, pyrotechnic components, and some protective materials are used once.
Then the scale of fuel burnt
Falcon 9 Fuel Load
RP-1 (refined kerosene): about 123,000 kg (271,000 lb)
Liquid oxygen (LOX): about 287,000 kg (632,000 lb)
That's roughly the equivalent impact of:
1.3–1.6 million km of car travel

Falcon 9 soon to be completely replaced by Starship though. All re-usable. Powered by LOX and methane (from NG).
It's all about driving down the cost per kg delivered to orbit. By orders of magnitude. That's also why the Starship keeps getting bigger too.

plus Zero 2 Infinity Bloon/Elevate balloon flights use helium to lift payloads or capsules into the stratosphere. They have little to no direct CO₂ from flight, because the balloon itself does not burn fuel. Zero 2 Infinity describes Bloon as a “zero emission” craft, and high-altitude balloons are typically helium-filled.
The image is the Bloostar, the balloon-assisted rocket
Bloostar is lifted past 99% of the atmosphere before ignition, and the concept uses methane/oxygen engines and way less waist.
But way less flashy. No boom.

Starship:
About 1,000–1,100 metric tons of methane (CH₄)
About 3,900–4,000 metric tons of liquid oxygen (LOX)
That's roughly 12 times more propellant burned than a Falcon 9.

For what? Faster internet while camping? More AI generated Trump videos while in the Amazon?

Military superiority, for one. Space mining and manufacturing.
No, AI will assist your personal robot in doing all your sh*t for you, including your errands, your housework and even your day job. They will also be farming our fields for our food. And our mining and forestry and manufacturing. Building our houses, paving our roads.

Tesla’s China-made EV sales jump nearly 40% in May as domestic market rebounds
https://www.cnbc.com...t-rebounds.html
The automaker in May delivered 85,982 new energy vehicle units from its Shanghai Gigafactory — where it produces Model 3 and Model Y units for China and several overseas markets — according to preliminary data published Tuesday by the China Passenger Car Association. That’s a 39.4% year-on-year increase over the same period in 2025.
