There's a problem at the Hartland Landfill. The trucks are supposed to wash when they exit but for some reason they aren't now and the road is thick with dirt. Everyone going to the mountain bike park has to drive through this landfill sediment. Who knows what kind of bacteria and toxins it contains. It's so thick you can see tire tracks in it. My car is filthy now after just a few trips through it. Anyone know what's going on?

We can take up a VV collection to pay for a car wash if that helps.

I'm not sure that will help the hundreds of people who use that road. Thanks for the offer though. ;)

The same thing happened on Harbour Road as a result of all the loads being hauled out from the Point Hope expansion going on, but before I could blast the CoV about it on Twitter, they had it cleaned up.  Saanich doesn't run a decent twitter feed, so you'll need to hunt down the right party in their contacts on their website.

I guess you're right. I suspect this is the CRD's problem since they run the landfill, but maybe Saanich can help.

You can tweet the CRD and they will actually reply promptly.  I didn't think of that, but it probably is their job to keep Hartland cleaned up.

Thanks, I did tweet as well but no response yet. I'll give the bear another poke tomorrow if I don't hear anything.

VV can do better than that, VV team car wash?

UPDATE

The CRD's Twitter account told me they are doing construction at the scales and that's where the trucks are picking up dirt. It's past the wash station. I'm waiting for a call back with more info. If they don't clean it up it's going to be very dangerous on that road. The dust is fine and slippery.
