A Hollywood blockbuster horror film planned for release later this year, called The Boy, features Victoria's iconic Craigdarroch Castle as the setting.

The film stars Lauren Cohan, Rupert Evans and Ben Robson. From IMDB comes this description:

"An American nanny is shocked that her new English family's boy is actually a life-sized doll. After violating a list of strict rules, disturbing events make her believe that the doll is really alive." - http://www.imdb.com/...2/?ref_=nv_sr_1

How do we know it's a blockbuster before it's out?

If your Internet was fast enough to be able to watch the trailer you'd know.

It's out as early as next weekend, at least in some type of release.

I'd love to watch it for the geographical connection but that doll is too scary for me!

It's getting some very, very poor reviews.

The public has given it 74% on Rotten Tomatoes. I think that's quite high.

The vast majority of the public reviewers have not seen the film, every film gets silly reviews before opening.  It does not open until today.  We'll see where the number goes tonight.

Hmm. Ok.

Critics now down to 20%.

Audience at 68%, but again, the vast majority of those reviewers have not seen it.

Audience now 61%, critics 29%.

But the good news?  It won the per-screen dollar take in North American last night!  And brought in $3.9M, and will likely hit a similar number tonight.   It'll be profitable at the end of all, if the reported $10M production budget is accurate.

Which VVer is going to take the bullet and go see this?

User review at Metacritic:

With an exceptional twist (that seems nonsense at first, but as you think about it the more you buy and appreciate it) and an incredible lead (Laura Cohen), The Boy takes on both grounds, one that questions whether the doll is alive, or is there a more rational explanation? In which, the movie's premise never fails to entice the viewer, plus the lead's reasonable motives makes the movie more of "I would have done the same" type of horror film rather than "your average January horror film". So with Barely any jump scares, the movie is more creepy, mysterious and a puzzle rather than just flat out scary.

Audience reviews now at 58%, as people who have actually seen the film bring the rating down from its earlier high of 74%.

Weather in the East has also diminished movie takes this weekend.

This might be a great project for crowdfunding (much better than some of the other requests out there).

Can we just get someone from Fivver to go?

27% (critics) and 57% (audience) now.  Since the entire East is appears to be closed, money might be low in theatres tonight.
