There we go!  Nice action shots :)

I briefly thought about taking some photos but an all-nighter wasn't in the cards.

It was such a fun experience! The professionalism of those involved was exemplary. It all went down without a hitch as far as the general public was concerned.

Yeh, I bet.  I enjoyed watching the one on Oak Bay Ave get moved, but after standing around for a couple of hours waiting for them to pull it off the property line I didn't fee like chasing it up Fort Street.

Same here, I'm well past the all-nighter stage.

The information that was relayed to me originally by the developer appears to have been in error. The barge was indeed transported to Esquimalt Harbour and did not remain in the Upper Harbour as originally specified.

I believe this was an honest mistake, but nevertheless there they are awaiting transport to their final location on Dallas Road.

High tide today at 10:04 am at 9.6 feet

Tomorrow at 10:44 am at 9.6 feet

Thursday at 11:26 am at 9.6 feet

Three good days, depending on the winds

I'm surprised this is cost effective to do.

Considering there isn't much heritage to look at in the two going to Dock Street.

The best of the buildings were moved over onto Michigan.

I doubt it was "cost effective", but the Jawl's are going to make millions off this project.  They can afford to take a low 6 figure hit to save these two wonderful houses.  They are very thoughtful developers IMO.

I have a hunch that the landing spot at Dallas Road will not be on the outside of the breakwater, but at the boat ramp just north of the Helijet terminal

At this point anything is possible. I did receive a map with indicators of where the homes were to be unloaded, but I did think it was rather strange to unload where the map indicated they would be unloaded.

Here's what I received from Concert Properties. The horizontal lines indicate road closures.

Dunno, but the ones on the barge don't really look all that special.

Couldn't they have just taken them down Government to Dallas Rd. rather than going all the way around, or is it too constricted?

The lights on Government are not on poles, they are on cables, and there are quite a few cross street power and telephone lines.

I was wondering why they couldn't do the shoreline route - Belleville, Quebec etc... around James Bay. No overhead cables there.

Nickel Bros. has done this so many times that I figure they know what they're doing. Presumably if another route made sense, they'd have taken it. As for the cost effectiveness of this, I doubt the developer will lose anything on this move. The houses are going to be fixed up and put on the market, right? They must figure they'll recoup the costs of the move when they sell.
