Eleven stories does not seem out of line and in fact could be the start of more high rise development along Crease and Cadillac.

One day Victoria will have a light rail system for transit making Uptown and logical junction point for heading either down Mckenzie towards UVIC or another line heading down town.

Having higher population density in this area makes prefect sense to me for ez access to schools, parks, shopping, etc.

Uptown's great. I'm just not sure people want it capped off with a building more than twice it's height. It's a fair question.

Uptown is like 6-7 commercial floors at it highest point (the library). So we we get a 9 story residential floor height we are not true llc speaking twice the height of what is already there.

I wouldn't be choked at all if we didn't see a 15-25 floor tower at this location.

If a tower can a zip line be far behind

Design features include exterior suite entrances and dedicated, secure bicycle and automobile parking.

The suites will be offered as studio, one- and two-bedrooms.

“We began the redevelopment of this property in 2008 and so much has changed in the neighbourhoods in and around Uptown since that time,” said Nagle. “Uptown is at the centre of an evolving urban core in Saanich and it’s going to become even more vibrant as people continue to move into this area.”

Yeah.. I can't wait to find out why they built that huge two story space under Whole Foods... looks way to much like a shell for something big....

I would think that is where the delivery trucks enter and where the front load BFI truck and garbage/cardboard compactors will be located

For Whole Foods? That's up on their level. They are also only paving this area... not concrete floors... which means easy tear up.

Any further development on the residential component for Uptown? It would be nice to see this start ASAP after Whole Foods opens.

Tallest building in Saanich planned for Uptown Shopping Centre

http://victoria.citi...hopping-centre/

Uptown Shopping Centre developer Morguard is seeking approvals to build the fourth and last phase of the project in the form of an 11-storey residential tower with over 55,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space.

Planned for Carey Road at Ravine Way, Morguard envisions 134 rental units in one bedroom, two bedroom and townhome layouts in what will become the tallest building in Saanich. Homes will range between 603 and 1,012 square feet and will be situated throughout a two wing design (rising to nine and eleven floors) between a communal green space. [Full article]

Looks good. I know uptown is a public transit hub but it's still surrounded by a suburban environment. Is 38 parking spots for 134 units is do-able?
