I suppose they could put it on one of the many other giant, fortress-like, blank walls that face out to the surrounding public realm.

I guess we can also believe that none of the 500 or so tenants will have cars.
You would think that someone would have said that given the plan is to add a dozen 24 story building in the area, maybe we should not be narrowing Douglas St!

Are we narrowing Douglas Street?

This would be a great place to live, on the South or East side of the building, and on a high floor.
That entire area between Uptown and what was the school on Carey is on the crest of quite a large hill, and has spectacular views to the Olympics and the Sooke Hills.
Very quick access to the Westshore, the airport, or downtown Victoria as well.

From the wide side it looks a lot like a 21st-century version of Orchard House. Everything goes full circle. 50 years ago it was Orchard House at the south end of Douglas Street that really heated up the highrise controversy in Victoria. And now Saanich will finally be getting its own Orchard House at the north end of Douglas Street.

My daughter lives in Yaletown . Her first unit had balconies but you can't clean them so they become filthy. She moved to a building with floor to ceiling glass. Much nicer, clean, more floor space and light. The balconies are useless except for smokers.

I would have to agree. Unless it's a large terrace, the balconies just end up being wasted space.

I like to have the option of Steppin' Out whenever I feel like it. Call me Jackson Browne. Or is that Joe Jackson? Or Shoeless Joe? Wolfman Jackson? Heck, that's five Jacksons already.
