Trees have now been cut down.

So it's truly a Langford project now.

Yes, unlike Victoria which has retained it's natural habitat.

I think Victoria has made a fairly valiant effort to replace a good deal of the trees cut down in the past, especially for an urban environment.

'fairly valiant'?

I disagree. I think that there is probably still 99% less trees in Victoria than there was 500 years ago.

I guess you'd have to ask the people who were here 500 years ago to know for certain.

And it's "fewer", not "less".

fewer vs less is one of those very common mistakes that only grammar nazis really care about...

Or just those who learned the simple and easy to remember single vs. plural rule.

It's magic I tell you. All those houses in Victoria and Saanich just appeared there without cutting down a single tree. Truly amazing.

That was never my suggestion. I think we've learned a little bit about clear-cutting since Victoria was first developed.

How exactly do you build a house without cutting down the tree first I'd love to hear how that's done. First thing any developer anywhere in the world does is cut down the trees and clear the land.

In Langford, where they don't protect any trees, the method is lay waste to the entire development zone and then call the biologist for an environmental assessment. Yep, just a moonscape here. Do whatever you want.... cheaper than the alternative....

Langford Moonscape would be a cool name for a rock band.  Lay Waste could open for them at larger venues.

Little known fact, I was in a band we named Langford Blue in reference to the unique tone of eyeshadow only found in the interior of Langford during the 80's....
