Five-storey office building proposed for Burnside industrial zone

http://victoria.citi...ndustrial-zone/

A five-storey mixed-use office and industrial building has been proposed for the 500-block of John Street in the City of Victoria's Burnside neighbourhood.

Designed by Victoria-based architectural firm Eric Barker Architect, the 10,283 square foot building planned for a narrow lot at 584 John Street will house the offices and storage space of a local construction contractor. Drawing inspiration from modern takes on industrial design, architects have envisioned large areas of glass and cascading terraces along the building's street frontage in the hopes of delivering a product much at odds with the nondescript architecture of the immediate area. This is how the site currently looks.

The heritage house on the left is in nice shape and it looks like people live there. I would hate to be living there during construction!

Too bad the folks who bought this property didn't also buy the commercial building on the right, that sits at the corner of John and Rock Bay. It is quite the dump.

I would consider this an "infill" development. When I first think of "infill" I think of residential - not so much office. Pretty cool project! Excited to see it when finished.
