I guess my thinking is that for every vote I don't cast for a new face on council is one less vote that is required by one of the cabal of mostly terrible incumbents to retain their seats.

What I find fascinating is that for the past 2-3 months on this thread there are very very few positive comments about any of the incumbents.

Surely someone has something positive to point out for some of them?

Saying anything positive about any current local politician isn't exactly a popular move on this here forum.

Lisa Helps keeps public hearings on track. I still won't vote for her.

I actually kind of like the smiley-face speed signs and I applaud the mayor for that initiative.

Also, the mayor has good hair. That's my 2 plusses.

i must admit i do find it amusing when a police car goes past them and it frowns at them for going too fast

Helps has actually allowed some things to be built in the CoV so there's that. I'm still refraining from deciding who I'll vote for until I know who's going to work towards a healthy housing pipeline and who just wants to keep the wheel of time from turning.

As far as I know the entire new council slate is good on development and will let housing get built.  Far better than Issit and his gang of "progressives"

Really?  Loveday might have good hair, but Ms. Helps?

There's still such an opportunity for someone to have a good run at a Council seat. The appetite for change is there, and we already know we'll have at least two new faces with Coleman and Lucas gone. Good to see Stephen formally in...he has one of my votes, for sure.

You've already got my vote in 2022.

Do we know where that is confirmed? Have they released any housing platform pieces that promote additional housing or is it the same: leave 70% of the city (SFD's) alone and densify the already dense downtown?

...leave 70% of the city (SFD's) alone and densify the already moderately dense downtown?

There remains huge parts of downtown that could absorb much more density. Rock Bay alone could house 20,000 people if density isn't artificially stifled there.

Im just going by their websites which don't have any of the anti development platitudes found on the incumbents or issits slate

Stephen Hammond and Gary Alberts came to our house this morning. I wasn't home but my husband was. Before they could barely speak he said, "you've got my vote!"

If Saanich and Victoria amalgamate quite a few CoV incumbents would lose their seats
