^That's not how voting works.
Maybe Geoghegan isn't running in Victoria after all, he's just using Vista 18 because Saanich doesn't have a high-rise revolving restaurant.

Yup but the Helps camp are going to pull out all the divisive comments such as that....its their fall back
It's their fall back and their achilles heel. Tent city is a disgrace on so many fronts - not the least of which to the actual homeless who do not need the public opinion of them to drop even further and who would greatly benefit from programs that do something to move them into more self sufficient lifestyles. Programs that have resources siphoned away by the bottomless pits of despair and self-destruction low barrier housing seem to become when done in a way that merely enables the vulnerable to continue their damaging lifestyles. Its a further slap in the face to anyone who actually does pay taxes and contribute to society to know that little is done to ameliorate the crime that comes with these tent cities. It'd be one thing if these places were otherwise peaceful and law abiding, they aren't.
I think Hammond is best positioned to take the undecided or disenchanted left leaning votes from Helps. I can't see Beyer taking them, and I can't see Geoghan taking them. If anything I think Geoghan is likely to split the Beyer votes but may do little with respect to the Hammond votes.

Maybe everyone gets one chance at winning with less than 50%. Helps had hers in 2014 with 37.63%
Ah yes. Democracy at it's finest. There's only ever a problem with the process when you don't like the result. With the number of mayoral candidates we have, I don't think anyone is getting 50%+1.

Clearly I was being facetious*. However, as long as we employ the deeply flawed FPTP electoral system while allowing more than 2 candidates to run for a single position, we don't have anything remotely resembling democracy.

For all we know this may very well be one of those vote the government out elections and Hammond will win in a landslide.
But for that to happen Beyer has to drop out and Geogehan can’t enter.
Bruce McGuigan filed his nomination package for Mayor today.
Good. He can split the academia with a sociology degree vote.

As far as I can tell, Gary has done no canvassing since he announced months ago and is relying on his facebook page and a website to get out the vote. He is no threat to anyone if that continues. MG has so much baggage that he isn't going to get any votes. Heck he placed 4th in the Saanich run off a few months back and that was his own riding with his own candidate as Mayor.

Another entrant? Crazy!

McGuigen is the executive director of Family Services Victoria.
He stepped down from that role in May.

So how many now for mayor?
Lisa Helps
Stephen Hammond
Gary Beyer
Bruce McGuigan
Rob Duncan
Sean Leitenberg
Mike Geoghegan [possibly?]
Diana Smardon [possibly?]
This is nuts. Recall 2014 when there were four "serious" candidates and four fringe/joke candidates. If Shebib and the other usual suspects show up this will be a huge list.

So the GreeNDP is what’s in store with the better type of democracy?
I have no issues with the construct so far*

And the deli guy
OMG, I totally forgot. Chris Zmuda.
I was trying to think where I heard the name Zmuda before. I had to look it up--it was Bob Zmuda, Andy Kaufman's partner, portrayed in the Jim Carrey movie by Paul Giamatti.
So we got:
Lisa Helps
Stephen Hammond
Gary Beyer
Bruce McGuigan
Rob Duncan
Sean Leitenberg
Krzysztof "Chris" Zmuda
RyMo
Mike Geoghegan [possibly?] announcement pending
Diana Smardon [possibly?] a sign was spotted
Saul Anderson [possibly?] runs every election
David Shebib [possibly?] runs every election
edit: added RyMo
