...your union suggesting a few names especially to fill up your long council or school board list seems normal.

Unions should not be using their member lists to distribute endorsements of any particular candidate. By the same token neither should private businesses use their customer lists for this purpose.

unions have been involved in politics since they were invented. It’s not new.

I never suggested it was. Unions can be political, just don't use my personal information to distribute their agenda.

a union is kind of a membership club. clubs do not work well if they can not communicate with membership.

Look, this is not an anti-union thing. Union endorsements or any sort of endorsements are fine.

It's the deceptive, misleading manner in which they are announced. They use vague language by saying here are the candidates that are committed to workers or infrastructure or whatever terms they use that year, implying that those unlucky ones that aren't endorsed must be second rate candidates that won't work hard for citizens.

Looks like "someone" is trying to distance "themselves" from "their" Facebook group.

Stick to communicating with me about union business and I won't have an issue.

What is also weak is removing any comments that questioned the Mayor or her actions.

A cynic might think that the disclaimer gives them the freedom to say what they like while giving the mayor plausible deniability.

After all, I'm sure she has no knowledge of what goes on on social media, people going after cfax and such.

Posted on todays Victoria Reddit. Is this the same chart Jared made ? Has it been lifted from here or has Jared posted it on the Reddit site ?

That's me. I posted it on here first because this is more of a discussion medium and I wanted to get feedback before I put it on the more broadcast medium of Reddit. Thank you to Stephen Andrew, Andrew Reeve and Mike K for giving me that feedback!

I'm still hoping that someone else will make a chart expressing a different view of the field...

^I think you could easily make that a quadrant. You can still put a wide spectrum of views on it just by arranging where they are within each quadrant.

Here's page you should bookmark. It's the affordability ratings produced by Todd Litman and "Cities For Everyone". It's also educational as it shows who's responding to surveys and who simply can't be bothered.

Whats the agenda here and how do they define their benchmarks in order to score without showing bias?

infill is a bit of a tricky word.  if fairfield opposes zoning of sfd lots (that currently feature an occupied home) to duplexes or mfds do they oppose "infill"?

Here's an observation. Anna King has a lot of pictures of her with her supporters on her website. Other candidates do this too. It's a great message that the candidate is popular and has backing. It's good psychology. Studies prove people like joining when others are already on board.

Poor Riga Godron has to use stock images of generic people. Sad! https://riga4victoriacouncil.com/

My strata is trying to get me to remove election signage that I have placed in one of the windows of my condo. Apparently they are not familiar with the BC Election Act [S228.1 (2) ]

A strata corporation or any agent of a strata corporation must not prohibit the owner or tenant of a strata unit from displaying election advertising posters on the premises of his or her unit.

Well, he's not pro-automobile if that's your beef.

Interesting! I didn't know the Elections Act overrules strata bylaws.
