It’s the FFFA video showing Isitt drooling in awe at Lenin’s tomb and talking about the need for socialism here. I imagine it was meant to run PRE election...

Although one always has to be dubious when viewing heavily edited videos with an overt agenda ... has there ever really been any doubt as where old Ben is coming from?
Presumably, with his large(est) tally of votes, the residents of the COV are cool with Bens socialist mantra.
That even hard left residents aren't put off by Bens over the top espousal of Communism has always been surprising to me ... although based on the results of a few weeks ago, I guess it shouldn't be.

It’s pretty scary if you ask me.

Back to the election for a sec: when will the details of campaign contributions and such be revealed?
Jan 18th is when they are due but with a $500 fine you can file them by Feb 18th

Long after anyone stopped caring! With technology these days there is no reason why the filings can't be made with 14 days after the election.

It is not a hard form to fill out for a simple council campaign but it becomes a much bigger issue for candidates that spend tens of thousands of dollars. 90 days is a reasonable length of time because it takes some time to get all the details - expenses still come in for a while after an election as do donations. For most candidates, the finances are finished the week after the election but sometimes it can take time for the last bills come in and get paid.
90 days also gives everyone a reasonable time to file so no one should really have any excuse for not filing on time.
When the numbers come out I will be going through them in detail

^^Especially nowadays when you have so many more income streams. It takes a while to gather everything up and make sure it conforms with the rules. If you had only a two-week deadline you could be certain there'd be a few late invoices arriving that would force you to amend or refile. The punishment is serious but City staff will bend over backward to help make sure your financials are submitted correctly.

They were all out on election night but you have to have copied them down yourself. I do not know when the will be on the website but in my opinion, they are not very useful for several reasons
1) So many people are advance voting and you have no way of knowing where they would have voted on election day. You do not know is some neighbourhoods had a higher advance than others
2) Since you are allowed to vote at any polling station and many do vote elsewhere than where they live because it is convenient.
3) Federally and Provincially the ridings are split up into polls of about 300 to 500 people. These polls allow people to research voting patterns with a high degree of granularity. The City does nothing like this making the results at polling station not all that useful

I think we discussed earlier how even a divisive candidate like Ben Isitt saw fairly consistent poll numbers across the city. It's not really possible to say, Fernwood votes this way and Gonzales votes that way.

I’m curious about UVic and Our Place.
I don't want to venture into conspiracy theories, but I really felt like the Helps folks were promoting the Our Place polling stations. Not that she would've won or lost based based on that, of course.

I walked around Fairfield and Rockland yesterday; if the cars with anti-Harper (yes, to this day) and "sustainable" stickers were anything to go by I'd wager Together and Comrade Ben did well in those areas.

Not in this Fairfield household. None of us voted for any of them.
Can you have a polling station in a location where one of the candidates works? Our Place?

That does seem odd. Especially since it's in part sort of a social hub where the regulars might know the candidate.

The discussion on Victoria housing values has been moved to the Victoria home prices and housing values thread.

The voting place at UVic also allowed residents from the CoV to vote, I thought? Was that not the case?
