His crazy politics and beliefs aside, if he's put the work into earning that degree, he's earned the right to be called Dr. Then again, Angela Merkel rarely seems to go by Dr. so maybe there's a different protocol for political positions?

Every email to him should still start with Mr. Issit or Dear Ben....
I'll just stick to Comrade.

He is a "Doctor of Philosophy in Law and Society". I'm not suggesting it's particularly easy, but it is certainly what he thrives on. He was able to research "at the intersection of law and society"
- Aboriginal law and Indigenous rights n constitutional law
- Environmental law and policy
- Legal history
- Legal theory, particularly feminist and critical legal theory
- Market regulation (for example employment and labour law, international private law, and commercial law)

Yeah, but whatever. Most professional jobs require at least the amount of day to day work that a PhD in a humanities field requires. Pretty much anyone with a university degree could comfortably handle the intellectual load of a PhD - it's the willingness to undergo 5+ years of monotony for zero pay or scrabbling for grants that's the real challenge. You have to really want the ego boost, or be really interested in a very specific thing, and even then most people couldn't give a **** that you're a PhD. Not that it will stop you from saying it within the first 30 seconds of meeting someone, though.
When I finished my masters degree my program was begging our set of graduates to come back and do a PhD. I would rather stick pins in my eyes and drink bleach than suffer that obscure hell.

lol come on now, these are the same people who on one breath condemns the entirety of academia as one big hammer-and-sickle conspiracy, and on the next breath worship the likes of Shapiro and Peterson simply for holding advanced degrees while agreeing with their worldview. nevermind the irony of the channel being named "PragerU, haha.

Congratulations Dr. Isitt! https://twitter.com/...337864886468608
According to a recent analysis, Dr Isitt has been absent from council 25% of the time over the last year. (presumably collecting 100% of his pay check?) Wonder if the two are related. Maybe congratulations are due to all of us (considering our contribution as taxpayers.)

Nobody has mentioned this yet so I think I have a VV scoop!!
Ran into volunteers from NewCouncil.ca twice today running errands. London Drugs Harris Green, Thrifty Foods James Bay. Both locations they were running a straw poll asking people for opinions. Claimed to have volunteers at lots of other locations around town.
the Qs as best as I can remember them were something like
1) neighbourhood you live in.
2) do you know about Oct 20th election.
3) did you vote in 2014.
4) what Victoria issue effects you personally.
5) what is most important issue to you.
6) rate 1 to 10 job done by Council.
7) rate 1 to 10 job done by Lisa Helps.
I asked if they had candidates and impression I got from vague answers was they had some but not full slate and wouldnt reveal names yet.
Very grassroots, impressed with organzation especially if true they have people all over town running this poll!!

I know of a couple of very credible candidates who are waiting to see who else runs and what the temperature is at the time. Don't know if they are affiliated with newcouncil though. This approach makes sense to test the waters.
