People see these and go, wow, are they making a cool atrium fountain, and it's like, nope, parking ramp.

It says a lot about our local architectural scene when the most interesting detail in a contemporary building is a portion of the parking structure.  :whyme:

^ Not going to happen. Oh and another not so great point. When I read about the new fire hall and the part about the sirens, it was mentioned that they wouldn't turn the sirens on until they got to Cook Street.

That cant be good can it?

Hopefully the destroyed section of Johnson St. sidewalk is replaced soon.

The builder sent out the following update of progress to the buyers of the units:

"Construction:

The underground parkade is complete, with the imminent concrete pouring of the upper ramp

  • Forming of the 2nd floor of the new building has commenced

  • Re-roofing of the existing building has commenced

  • Sprinkler system for the existing building is complete

  • Steel stud suite partitioning is almost complete on the 2nd floor of the existing building

  • Partitioning and electrical wiring is underway on the 3rd floor of the existing building

  • All remaining sub-contracts to completion are in place

The National Bank construction financing, as monitored monthly by cost consultant BTY, continues to flow normally and commensurate with site progress.

The Wade is on budget and on schedule for occupancy in September 2019. The project’s financial profile remains unchanged."

New to the post, acouple of questions:

1. Curious why the construction of the extension of the old building to the east hasn’t begun. You would think the concrete pour would happen at once, but maybe it’s a site access issue?

2. I was looking closer at the model and plans and it looks like only the new building to the south has floor to ceiling windows while the old building ( and extension to the east) maintains the concrete facade limiting window height? Wouldnt make for a uniniform look (and was never communicated by sales staff and it was all, advertised as floor to ceiling windows)...

Thoughts?

Hello! Also a new poster. I’ve been following the thread for a while. I purchased a jr. 1bd. in the old building. From what I remember the sale team did tell us that the windows would not be floor to ceiling.

Always always review the architectural working drawings when buying a pre-sale. You'll identify many things that are missed in the marketing floor plan.

I realize that a notice has gone out postponing the completion (again) until September 2019.

Based on the pace of construction at this site, what are we looking at for for a realistic completion date?

I don’t think they’re planing on taking an eight month vacay, tjv.

September sounds about right but eoy 2019 is likely. The most complicated and lengthy phase is the underground. That’s nearly done now.
