Stopped in for an afternoon beer and nachos while walking the Goose. Decent service and excellent nachos. Pretty good dive bar in our opinions.

Liquor control board shuts down My Bar
After four years of operations Victoria pub My Bar, located in the Howard Johnson hotel complex on Gorge Road East near Jutland Road, has been shut down by the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch (LCLB).
The closure came into effect on Monday, January 30th.
The LCLB's action relates to My Bar's three operators, one of whom is the former owner of Caledonia Avenue's now-defunct Soprano's Karaoke and Sports Bar, failing to properly file the necessary paperwork to utilize the Howard Johnson's liquor license.
In a statement issued this morning, My Bar's operators say they are trying to "rectify the situation as soon as possible."
The bar employed ten individuals. There is no confirmed re-opening date.

Re-opening this weekend, might be called "HoJo". Unconfirmed name.

HoJo opened for a while, but it simply closed back down again. No explanation.

Very strange place. We stayed there for several nights when we first arrived in Victoria. Must say it was like a Fellini movie with every strange person possible wandering through the lobby.
