is this a problem you want someone (government) to fix though?  let's let the consumer decide.  even the poor ones.

This is basically true but again dollar stores are a misplaced target. Let's shut down payday lenders first and go from there.

They would miss payments or bounce cheques, but they'd be better off. All the evidence shows payday loans cause more defaults and more financial hardship than help. This is why they are banned in many US states.

They also wouldn't be able to cash cheques, and not having that $250 loan now and then could force them to lose their apartment.

 

The US is not a good example for us locally. What happens in Alabama is not what happens here.

Cant wait for the left's outrage when the bans on internal combustion vehicles, and natural gas home heating they lobbied for comes into effect! Who are they going to target when there is no more massive carbon tax windfall from the supposedly rich!
