...I don't think their is a political entity that has the will, or ability to get this genie back in the bottle.

I hope you are wrong about this, because if you aren't, the future looks very dark indeed.

ps: "bloviating" is my word of the day!

Too many woke individuals - mostly women, God bless them - are now in charge of the rules.

And it lacks common sense. Hurts us all. Such a shame.

I don't think there is any doubt about that. Politically, societally and culturally we have allowed ourselves to start down a dark hole. I hope for the youngin's sake we can get it reversed.

But Heaslip said that in the midst of a toxic drug crisis, all options need to be on the table.

“I think anything that we can put on the table given the level of mortality and risk that we’re seeing for patients who are living in the middle of the toxic drug crisis, we need to be exploring.”

No matter what strategy is tried, however, it must include robust evaluation to identify challenges and mitigate potential risk, she said.

“There always needs to be a really solid evaluation put alongside them so that we understand the impacts that they’re having — not just for patients but for the broader community as well.”

OK, where is the reporting of these evaluations?  I see none.

Is involuntary hospitalization for addiction treatment one of those options?

BC Greens pitch more drug inhalation sites as decriminalization debate continues: Rob Shaw

Barely half of B.C.’s 50 supervised consumption and overdose prevention sites allow inhalation or smoking, though six of the nine sites on Vancouver Island do.

Good luck with this, once the "exhaust fan" direction conversation starts and costs/infrastructure to filter the air from these substances this conversation will end in a stalemate.

A reasonable solution here, is give them an island where it's free reign.  Then all the services can set up shop there if they actually really care and everyone can be drugged out 24/7 whenever, wherever they want.  Dibs on the conch....

When Green policy makes the NDP seem sensible, you know something is terribly wrong with it.

B.C. asks Ottawa for help on decriminalization fallout

https://www.theglobe...ion-exemptions/

British Columbia is asking Ottawa to help the province rein in public drug use arising from its decriminalization pilot project, after its own attempt to establish limits through legislation were derailed by a B.C. Supreme Court injunction.

Jennifer Whiteside, B.C.’s Minister for Mental Health and Addictions, is meeting Friday with her federal counterpart Ya’ara Saks, where she’ll ask the federal Liberal government to review its current exemptions to the B.C. decriminalization pilot that limits drug use in some spaces.

“With respect to decrim, we’ll be having a conversation about how the exemptions are working to this point,” Ms. Whiteside said in an interview Thursday.

She also said she’ll be asking Ottawa for more support for supervised drug-consumption sites and other resources during Friday’s meeting in Vancouver.

Victoria Mayor Marianne Alto, a long-time champion of decriminalization, says communities are struggling to manage the fallout without the resources that should have been put in place from the start. “What’s happening now with decriminalization is a really great example of what happens when you only use one tool at a time,” she said in an interview. “What’s missing right now are the support services that allow people to take that extra step – services like rehabilitation and detox.”

^^ We already had rehab and detox facilities before decriminalization. What elected officials failed to calculate is the cause and effect of such decriminalization. Easier access produce more users. More users produces more addicts... more addicts produce more tents... and so on...

...speaking of tents, I wonder if our woke socialist elected officials can figure out why we are experiencing a housing shortage? More immigration wouldn't have anything to do with it...or would it?

I wonder what's next? ...a doctor shortage?

So Too Tall has tossed the hot potato to the feds.  Smart move.  He’s no doubt hoping that people will forget that the whole stupid program was his idea in the first place.

If the feds move quickly it might help, but I think the toothpaste is already out of the tube.  There will be endless disputes about what is a public space (e.g.  is Pandora street a public space or an encampment where possession is legal?)  Police will probably remain very cautious to arrest, particularly in light of the guidance issued about that.

And zombies tend to be less than meticulous about their observance of rules and laws.  I suspect bus stop smoke-ins and the like will be undeterred  by the new restrictions.
