The fact that Vivid owners (except the ground floor townhome owners) can't even open the pathway's gates with our fobs between 5pm and 9am has been a point of contention. so I find it a bit hard to believe that "many residents of the building have written to council opposing public access."
I suspect many non-townhome residents of Vivid and Yates wrote to council to say precisely the opposite and to ask them to allow public access. At least that way they would have access to the mid block walkway they were promised.

Perhaps it wasn't the best idea to locate townhouses in this location.

The gates at 838 Johnson have been removed.
Yeah, noticed this the other day.
Basically, the gates on the VIVID and YATES side are useless now, as someone can stroll down the 838 midblock walkway and hope over to the other side without issue.

This perspective might show Yates on Yates at its best. But those top two levels really should have been set apart from the grey levels below.

TOWNHOUSE 104.
An extraordinary opportunity to live OR work in two floors of Chard, concrete built quality. As a home, it offers 1224 sq. ft. over two floors, with two bedrooms, three bathrooms, full size Bosch side x side washer and dryer and Fisher Paykel kitchen appliances. There is also BENSON custom cabinetry throughout with quartz countertops, heated floors in the ensuite and an efficient Heat pump system for toasty warm evenings. As an office it features sidewalk access to a spacious patio for client entry, 10ft ceilings on the main, 9ft ceilings up, all cooled with a programable Heat pump. The main floor is a perfectly open area for client reception/consultation, with a two piece client washroom, as well as counter areas for work stations and a coffee/snack bar. The upstairs rooms would become private offices with their own private washrooms. The landing at the top of the stairs would serve well for files, storage, photocopier etc.

Considering the number of purpose built rental coming on market soon, the reduction of student numbers, the increased interest costs and the general wonderfulness of the whole downtown condo hive area I suspect that prices are going to continue to drop.
Considering that city councils idea of dealing with the downtown problem is to ask the province to build even more supportive housing so that we can increase Victoria population of druggies from everywhere else is it little wonder that the appetite for these dog kennel sized units is going downhill.
The added cherry on top is the population of retirees is going to decrease as the baby boomers start to die off or enter nursing homes at a faster rate than they are retiring. The next generation is a lot smaller than the baby boomers.

Well, the owner of #706 bought it for $729 in 2021*, and is asking $719.9 now. Hopefully that $9,000 is not their life savings.
*when interest rates were at record lows.

Dont forget to also take off the RE commission and legal fees. But lets see what it actual sells for in this market.
Does anyone have a good idea what the likely sale price is going to end up being?

Nothing screams affordability like losing your life savings.
You cannot demand housing affordability, while still hoping your existing home retains value. You cannot have it both ways, no matter what our new federal housing minister says.
