Charlayne Thornton-Joe recognizes that people make the neighbourhood, not bricks and mortar.
Recognizes that they're building communities for future residents, not just those there today.
Would liked to have seen more concerns addressed by the developer.
Would have declined if it had been in the middle of the village, but since it's further south, she can support it with great difficulty.

Marianne Alto supports the project.
Would have supported a 6th storey if design changes were made.

Good grief. So much ado about nothing. Cole followed the OCP and it still took him over two years to get his approvals.
Unreal.

But barely get approval, and with only lukewarm support from Council. What's the point of the OCP again?

Was it 3 against and 6 for? That's not really barely, is it?

What I meant was even those who gave their support did so with little enthusiasm and echoed the ridiculous concerns about height.

It's just politicians being politicians. Offend no one sort of thing.
The ones who supported it love the change. And some probably also wished they could have sent a far stronger message to Mr. Tafler and his group who did whatever they could to misrepresent the facts, drag the developer through the mud and push a campaign that relied heavily on fear.

On the flip side, 6-3 is a damn near blow out against Tafler and his gang.
I must say, Helps has shown leadership on both this proposal and the St Andrew's school proposal.

And yes, 6-3 is a HUGE blow to the campaign to derail this project. I'm surprised with Young, though. I think he opted to keep his supporters on his side rather than do what he felt was probably the pragmatic choice. It sure didn't help that he kept referring to how cheap real estate was when he got into the market.

Government economist.....says it all. Doesn't understand basic supply and demand but sympathetic.....lol
He does not work for government, he's in private practice. In a nutshell, when you are incapacitated in a car crash, he'll work out your future lost earnings for your lawyer to argue towards a settlement.

I dunno, he has a degree in economics from Harvard, I'm sure he understands supply and demand.

I'm sure he understands it. But a Harvard Ph.D. does not keep your personal beliefs from getting in the way.
