Skeena cancelled the first couple due to staff not being able to get to work, but all is running normally now. Even the Crofton boat is going.
Thanks, taxpayers!

Is there normally an 11:30 sailing out of Swartz Bay?
Until the Coastal Celebration is repaired, its schedule has been modified to provide for its longer sailing via Boundary pass, hence the non-on-the-hour departures.

Word on the street (facebook) is that there was just an announcement on board a ferry saying that all morning sailings tomorrow have been cancelled across the system. Waiting to see if that means every route or just the open water ones..
Ah, there is it. Fulford still running.

Ahh, fake news. After posting the list they updated it - looks like the whole shebang cancelled for the first two runs, at least. Sleep in day for the morning crew!

Round trips were cancelled on all major routes between the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island, including the first four sailings on either side of the Swartz Bay-Tsawwassen route, due to the potential for roads and terminals to be impacted by the storm.
That means anyone booked on the 7, 8, 9 and 10 a.m. sailings on the company’s most popular route will spill over into later sailings on an already busy travel day ahead of Christmas weekend.

“We are monitoring the situation,” BC Ferries spokesperson Deborah Marshall said when asked about Twitter’s trajectory. “Our service notice information and current conditions information is repeated on our website. We have the ability to stand up a Travel Advisory page on our website for other important service related issues.”
She recommended that anyone looking for immediate updates on sailing delays can still go to BC Ferries’ website and sign up for service notices on any routes of interest.

Planned maintenance? That seems rather dubious.
Why?

Why?
You think it was planned for BC Ferries to take their system off line on what is traditionally a very busy travel day? If it was, they have bigger problems to contend with than the weather.

When I look, its actually on the unplanned outage page, not planned. Perhaps a short planned maintenance went sideways...

I ignored that screenshot and tested the site myself. Also, you clearly didn't read my second sentence.

I read your entire post. This doesn't change the fact that the Friday before a busy holiday travel weekend is a terrible time to schedule system maintenance, even if conditions at BC Ferries were optimal.

Sounds like the odd hours sailings are working. The other ones, they have no staff.
