As the Disneyland pictures clearly show, even when it's done to absolute perfection, there's a certain hollowness--a sterile artificiality. I simply believe there's no good way to pull it off.
I think the only thing that would make them interesting is if you gave different partners within an architectural firm a portion of the development to design. The Merrick designs for Hudson and Radius show a firm can work together (yet separately) to do this. Heck, why not give them to rival firms? Think how interesting Tuscany Village would have been had it been designed by Franc D'Ambrosio along with say, [url=http://www.numberten.com/projects/mixed_use/:e1dde]Number Ten AG[/url:e1dde]?

This is one of the most atrocious, poorly thought-out designs to come across the CRD in several years. It makes me happy that I do NOT live in Saanich. And let's not forget that Tuscany II: The Sequel (aka Town & Country) is just around the corner.
yeah i wish they built something more like shoal pt or those new buildings on tyee near the save-on

That probably saved them $500 a window.
Yup, that's about right.

Oh, you're right! -- D'oh, stupid me, I must have been blinded by all that pink! (That colour is pretty hard to take -- is it just the photograph, or are the buildings really that "tropical"...?)^ No, it has a pitched roof, you just can't see it in the picture at that angle.

The architect has done some good work in the past.

Yes, I see what you mean (checked some of their projects on their webpages). So what happened here? Will it still all come together, or is it WYSIWYG right now, and something went sideways?
