Here are the blue markings on Sutton Place West we've been chatting about in other threads.

There are a LOT of these. It looks like a significant surface repair project is imminent. Hopefully some repainting too when all is said and done.

They are doing surface repairs I understand, then I had heard painting the building.....I see both East and West are lumped into the same thread, not sure how many are aware they are separate buildings, with separate strata's managed by two different companies....

I was aware, I used to live there (West) in the 80's!

I was not aware of the different management companies. This explains why SPW is getting a makeover, while SPE is not.

Yep, SPW is managed by Firm I think, and SPE switched to AWM a couple years ago....I think SPW is older by a year....

Then I guess SPE has another year to effect it's exterior repairs.

They don't share an underground parkade?

Nope, separate buildings that share a common property line, and common driveway...

A large swath of white now runs down the west facade of SPW. From my vantage point, I can't tell if this is primer or a finished painted surface.

8 days later and there hasn't been much change except for some vertical grey "stripes" that have been added on the western side.

Does anyone have the scoop on the still only partially completed (and generally poorly done) paint job on Sutton West?

Maybe they realized what they are doing looks horrible and have had a serious case of buyer's remorse.

The old stained beige stucco looked better.

It's not beige stucco - it's tinted concrete, which is an architectural technique in and of itself.

Painting tinted concrete is monstrously dumb. They had a unique looking, maintenance free exterior which now will have to be repainted every 15 years. So dumb.

[Well, not totally maintenance free as there may be a clear coat, but you get my overall point, I'm sure.]

Mea culpa. The concrete should simply have been repaired and cleaned. The paint job has ruined the integrity of the original exterior finish.
