It's nice to see that some concrete has started to appear at this site.

Anyone know what we're seeing in the pictures? What is the big concrete column that is being built on the YoY site? A base for a larger crane to mount on?
That would be the tower's core.

I guess it's obvious why Chard does not use the Johnson Street address for this building. "The Vivid on Johnson St." would be more accurate.

The website has said it was down to its last unit since late August and I was about to question why it was taking so long to sell, but I just checked my realtor's PCS site and that unit is now listed as sold.

An artist's rendering of the 135-suite Vivid at the Yates condominium tower now rising along the 800-block of Johnson Street. The 20-storey highrise is a first-for-Victoria BC Housing-backed project that helped first-time and entry-level buyers get a leg up on home ownership in the BC Capital.

To be fair... if there were condo towers popping all over the CRD I think this location would be a bit less valued. That social housing building on the 800 block is the one place in town I avoid walking along the sidewalk if I can help it.

Oh it’s not that bad. There’s The 834 on the same block and soon 1400 Quadra will rise adjacent to the 844 facility.
I do have to wonder if 844’s future in its current location, or at least in its current form, isn’t limited? More eyes and ears. More people calling the cops. Eventually that pushes the negative element away.
Hopefully that'll be the case. I'm not particularly bothered by any of the blight in downtown, but the usual combination of trash pileup and people staring at passerbys in that particular property is a bit unsettling.

...Same sort of deal along the 900-block of Pandora where you now have three residential projects slated to look over the block.
There is the 926-930 Pandora proposal and the more recent SDA/print shop proposal. What is the third project planned for this block?

I guess I think of 1002 Pandora project (former St. Andrew's school site) as being in a different block from the upcoming 900 block projects, although it certainly will have a major impact on the area.

Lots of units will be overlooking the 900-block, for sure. Even the upgraded McDonald's will have a positive effect.
There's also the 1400 Vancouver proposal coming down the pipes.
