Wasnt sure where to put this, but I feel it is relevant to the discussion of transportation in this region. To understand the future of transit, its good to understand the origins of our current transit network.
After my Grandparents passed away, I was given my Grandfather's collection of old streetcar/interurban and railway maps/brochures. In this collection is a brochure dating from 1947/48 and in it shows the proposed conversion and expansion of the old streetcar routes into gas and trolley bus routes. In 1945, a trolley bus was borrowed from Seattle and put into temporary service within Victoria as a demonstration run.
As you can see the map is similar to the network today with a few differences.
