Oprah Winfrey was aboard an Alaskan cruise bound for Victoria, but did she make it to the Island?

American television personality Oprah Winfrey was aboard a Victoria-bound Alaskan cruise ship last week, but it remains unclear whether the A-list celebrity visited the B.C. capital or disembarked prior to the vessel’s arrival at Ogden Point.

Winfrey, who flew to Juneau, Alaska to board Holland America’s Eurodam on July 16, took part in an O, The Oprah Magazine cruise event with the publication’s top brass and a line-up of inspirational authors who held speaking engagements with passengers.

The 2,100-passenger vessel departed Seattle on July 15 and arrived in Juneau one day later. The itinerary had the Eurodam docking at Ketchikan on July 20, one day prior to its scheduled stop in Victoria on July 21.

Ketchikan’s Daily News reported Winfrey was aboard the Eurodam when the cruise ship sailed up to the town at 7AM. And according to the publication, she was scheduled to depart for Victoria at 1PM. It remains unclear, however, if Winfrey boarded the vessel bound for Victoria or opted to hop a flight back to the US mainland.

O magazine’s Adventures of Your Life cruises is scheduled to return to Alaska in the summer of 2018. Perhaps next year the wildly popular Winfrey, who no doubt has legions of local fans, will take in the sights and sounds of Vancouver Island. VV
