Just to be clear here folks we don’t have the exact details behind what’s happening and from what we’re hearing it could be liquor license related.

It’s a crying shame it all came to this, but I tell ya, Shawn Soole knows how to reel people in. Whatever he attaches his name to draws the eyes and the crowds, and that important in the highly competitive bar business.

Know it all.

We had issues with liquor licensing and the hotel we are trying to resolve at this moment.

Little Jumbo was my concept in which I had to bring on investors. In my nativity, I signed too much over to them in the beginning to get the place up and running. In the end, the board voted me out over personal issues with my fellow managing director. I had a 3 month non compete to work in the downtown core and a 2 year non compete to own and open anything in Victoria, which I why I began consulting.

Olo, I was hired on a one year contract consulting in the rebrand and launch. I left on great terms and the owners were very happy with the bar program.

Cafe Mexico was a two year contract helping with all design, rebrand and launch. I held the GM position there until I left to partner with Clarke & Co to open FTW.

I was an owning partner in FTW and we were doing very well with international media and guests from the world over coming to bartend and speak. Raising the bar across the board.

It sucks what happened, it's a complicated situation that was out of myself and my partners hands.

As for me rubbing people up the wrong way, I get that, it happens. I work hard, have more credentials than most restauranteur and bartender do in the country and when I open or help open something I expect perfection. I make no apologies about pissing people off, the bars and restaurants that I've been a part of have more awards, nominations and success than most places in Victoria if not the province.

I push the envelope and sometimes that gets attention from the wrong people.

Don't know much about him, but he certainly hasn't lasted long at his past few establishments - Little Jumbo, OLO, now FTW.

I've always enjoyed Little Jumbo and my one visit to OLO (so far) was enjoyable. Hopefully he can make the next one work with him staying around.

But I do appreciate everyone speculating and making assumptions on some of the hardest and most devastating events in my career.

Always nice to read s&*t eating comments from people who don't know me anonymously crapping on me.

Oh SD, were you there when I was working 100 hours a week to open a place, did you work with me? Prepping sourcing hard to get ingredients? Cleaning until 3am to make sure tomorrow goes well? Did you help me edit my book when I was running Clives and opening little jumbo? Were you there when I was hand drawing cafe mexico and designing 3 spirits from 3 different distilleries? Or how about judging multiple spirits awards while still working your ass off.

Have you had coffee with me at hey happy? How about a beer at the drake? No?

You don't know me. Not even close. Don't think cause you've been served by me a few times that you remotely know who the **** I am. Man up, happy to have coffee with you anytime to chat about my life if your up for it.

Hey SD, Coffee at Hey Happy on Johnson at 11am on Monday. You "know" me, you'll sit with me and have a convo about the "stuff" you know about me.

If you don't show up, I'll call you out in front of all your cronies on here.

No need to talk to you, you've proven my point yourself with your post. You admitted yourself that you are a perfectionist that can have a tendency to rub people the wrong way.

Now you got your knickers in a know because someone you don't know has said they have heard that you were difficult to work with? Your reactions here say enough.

Who knows, that night I was at Little Jumbo your mood and attitude on the floor that night could of just been one of your bouts of perfectionism.

You're right SD, I got all riled up about someone that just critique me and I don't even know them. I shouldn't care but I do.

Little Jumbo was 4 years ago and was a long and hard relationship for me. If I made this one moment not good for you, I'm sorry. I have my moments, just like everyone does. Unfortunately in this industry, it's in the open for everyone to see.

Again sorry if I offended those years ago, never my intention but obviously it had a lasting impression on you.

Who knows, that night I was at Little Jumbo your mood and attitude on the floor that night could of just been one of your bouts of perfectionism.

I know they've been closed for a few months now, but I had lunch at Bart's today and noticed on my way out that FTW had a liquor licence violation with a $17,500 fine posted on the door.
