We spend over $1 million every day on the Vancouver Eastside and nothing changes.it just gets bigger . I don’t care that the jails don’t want to deal with him. The family would feel some kind of justice if he was put in jail. Big  difference between having free time between 10 and one Monday and Friday than being locked up in a jail. He doesn’t have an ankle monitor so he would have to be caught breaking his curfew if anyone has time to check on him .
In the past, he has breached contact orders, and nothing was really done.

Many of his crimes were never mentioned in news articles some quite sickening  .

That’s more than 1% of the provincial budget.

Maybe it's a tourism opportunity. Come see the world's largest open air drug den and get a firsthand preview of the zombie apocalypse. Or it's an open air sound stage for all apocalyptic movies. Give the junkies a new career and sense of purpose as strung out background extras.

We used to go down there as teens in the 90s to check out some of the stores in that area. Back then it was as bad as it is today.

Know it all.

Jennifer Brewerton, owner of Lazy Susan’s, says she got her first call Mar 27 from a man speaking in a whispering voice. Once he finished asking questions about the store, the man started making sexual comments. The caller phones at least once or twice a week, the comments have become increasingly disturbing.

“A lot of other businesses...are having the same problem and we know it’s the same guy because of the way he talks...if a male employee answers he hangs up..he just wants to talk to women.”

Search Warrant Executed at Illegal Gaming House as part of Joint Investigation

May 6, 2026

In early 2026, the Saanich Police Department began an investigation into the operation of an illegal gaming house. The investigation is being led by the department’s Street Crime Unit, in partnership with the Drug and Organized Crime section of the RCMP’s Federal Policing Pacific Region.

The suspected location of the illegal gaming house was within the Victoria Police Department’s jurisdiction. VicPD was consulted early in the investigation, and it was agreed that SPD’s Street Crime Unit would lead the file.

On April 23, 2026, at 10:30 p.m., a search warrant was executed at a business in the 400-block of Burnside Road East. Several individuals were arrested, and approximately $12,000 in currency, along with gambling equipment and related paraphernalia, was seized.

The operation was supported by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC’s Joint Illegal Gaming Enforcement Team, the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, Victoria Police Remote Piloted Aerial Support Unit, SPD Patrol officers, the Special Investigation Section and Forensic Identification Services.

The investigation remains ongoing. At this time, charges have not been recommended to Crown counsel; however, investigators anticipate recommending charges related to the operation of an illegal gaming house at a later date.

Quotes:

“This investigation reflects the strength of collaboration between local, regional and federal policing partners,” said Drew Robertson, officer in charge of the Saanich Police Department’s Detective Division. “Bringing together specialized resources and expertise across agencies was critical in executing this search warrant. We are particularly grateful to CFSEU-BC’s Joint Illegal Gaming Enforcement Team for their specialized knowledge of illegal gaming investigations and their support in advancing this complex, cross-jurisdictional investigation.”

“Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC’s (CFSEU-BC) Joint Illegal Gaming Enforcement Team (JIGIT) brings specialized expertise and a province-wide intelligence lens to complex investigations like this one,” said S/Sgt. Alvin Ng. “By working alongside Saanich Police and our Federal Policing Pacific Region partners, we are able to disrupt organized illegal gaming operations that often intersect with broader criminal activity. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to protecting communities by targeting illicit networks and holding those responsible accountable.”

Crown: Pandora Ave stabber intended to kill stranger

Robert Henry Travers, 66, told the story he wanted to tell about why he stabbed 21-y/o Jayden Gauthier outside a Victoria hostel Mar 31, 2024, Crown Clare Jennings said in her closing submissions of the trial.

“He was not attempting to be as honest and as truthful and as forthright with the court as he could...what he tried to do was simply repeat his story using the same phrases and in a manner that was...kind of rehearsed.”

Travers often didn’t directly answer questions during cross-examination and simply reiterated the same narrative, she said. Next court is May 27 to set a date for the verdict.

House arrest not enough for Saanich man who sexually assaulted family members

A sentence of nearly 2 yrs to be served on house arrest (& 3 yrs probation) is not enough for a man who sexually assaulted 5 of his family members when they were children, his sister says.

Jeannette Drinkrow said she’s glad the more than 5-yr court process has finally come to an end with the sentencing of her brother, 78-y/o George Pearse, but she is disappointed he won’t serve time in jail.

Based on today's court registry, would appear that there has already been a breach of the conditional sentence order. Though the name is not included, the court file number is identical to his earlier, named offences.

NANAIMO — An Oceanside man will spend the next 10 mos behind bars after pleading guilty to possessing thousands of images of children as young as 5 being violently sexually abused.

Screenshot 2026-05-07 13.15.57.png

Dos Santos will also serve 2 yrs probation following release, as well as restrictions on internet usage & is forbidden from going to places anyone u/16 might be present for 5 yrs. He will also be on the sex offender registry for 20 yrs.

A pre-sentence report said Dos Santos felt remorse, understood it was not a victimless crime, and is doing work to understand his offending. Harvey read from an essay Dos Santos wrote during treatment, where he admits he’s “an active participant in a cycle of abuse” when he views child **rn.

10 months behind bars is nowhere near long enough to deter this type of behaviour. It should be mandatory minimum of 5 years for possessing these types of images.

Less than 1% of possession of child **rn cases ever go to trial in the west. A tiny percentage of this in the rest of world.

I don’t know.

Well he possessed child **rn. Didn’t produce it or participate in it.

Another guy recently had sex with 6 or so family members repeatedly.

He had no jail sentence.
