[Nostalgic Victoria]

I'm right leaning myself, but I still think the Nazi's are far right - with some socialist policies baked in that suited their purposes of totalitarian control.

 

I'm not sure there is much benefit to everyone agreeing on this anyways. What I hope we DO all agree on is this: Nazi politics is bad.

 

True (that both Nazism and Communism are equally bad), but the ignorance shown in persisting in identifying the Nazis as being "of the right" shows a total lack of historical knowledge and does no one any favors. The Communists originally falsely labelled the Nazis as "far-Right" because the Communists are liars, deceivers and historical revisionists who don't want Nazism tied to the Left (even though Hitler and Goebbels admitted that their party was of the Left), but more and more people are waking up to the truth the more they learn and find out.

Anonymous posters on Vibrantvictoria of course. The we'll known bastion of rhino party rhetoric, greens who are really rhinos in disguise (because rhinos eat grass and greens smoke weed). Not at all similar to fine upstanding old white men who aren't conservatives because their views are really liberal compared to the original settlers who were very puritan (except of course when it came to creating Metis - who are themselves communists because of Louis real!!!!!!

Only liberals such as yourself judge and value people based on their race or skin color, and that's what makes them racists.  Conservatives don't do that - you've just shown you do.

....it was five years ago today that Emma Fillipoff disappeared from the streets of Victoria.

 

She was last seen on the evening of November 28, 2012 walking barefoot past the Empress Hotel. A concerned passerby called police to report the sighting of the young woman. Police responded but had no reason to detain her and she carried on her way.

 

She has not been seen or heard from since.

I remembered reading that story when it happened, and wondering at the time how on earth something like that could possibly happen.

Then the T/C did an update article a few days ago, and from that article I did a bit more research into who Emma was, and the lead up to her disappearance.

 

In essence, she was a troubled young women, with (what I would describe as) fairly serious mental health issues.

 

The facts related to her personal background and the days before she vanished, which the local papers neglected to report on ... provided the detail and framework required to understand the whole picture ... and those facts are troubling in that she needed mental health intervention, but didn't want mental health intervention ... and she had more than enough wits about her to consistently avoid getting any sort of mental health intervention.

 

She seemed an awfully lovely person though ... much loved by all who knew her.

It's bloody miserable to contemplate what might have happened to her. 

 

It remains possible that she "disappeared" herself and assumed a new identity, and is living happily someplace else ... but such an outcome is highly unlikely.

The "not knowing" would be devastating to her family.

I dunno I would say CNN has them beat when it comes to blatantly lying non stop and passing it off as news. To my knowledge CNN is the only network that has put reporters in front of green screens pretending to be on the ground somewhere or has been caught interviewing their own staff pretending to be random people off the street

It's still a more credible and believable news source than CNN, MSNBC, CBC or anything else in the liberal media (who themselves engage in propaganda and push limits on what they can get readers/viewers to believe - after all, those I mentioned predicted with absolute surety that Hillary Clinton would become President and smugly proclaimed that her victory was "inevitable" and a "foregone conclusion" - and look what came of their predictions).

 

But anyway, enough of that - back to the regularly scheduled topic (i.e. crime in Victoria)...

I might be the only one in Victoria that thinks she should be loose.  My God, the murder happened when she was 15 years old.

 

A whole ton of people in this country get terms like 2-5 years for killing people.

I don't think you find a whole lot of folks that believe strongly that children who murder should automatically spend the rest of their lives in prison (impossible in Canada 99% of the time anyway), but rather it's the failure to accept the responsibility for Reena's death in front of the parole board that has kept Ellard locked up this long.

 

Glowatski admitted full guilt and accepted 100% responsibility for what he did, and has been a free man for years now ... Ellard always seemed to cop-out at some point in her bail hearings, and always attempted to minimize her guilt (she steadfastly refused to admit she actually held Reena's head under the water until (presumably) this weeks hearing).

 

I believe though, that Ellard was/is a clinical psychopath, and it's that she'll be battling while on parole and eventually with her freedom.

Presumably Ellard has received, or is receiving ongoing treatment for her obvious mental health issues, and the hope would be (on the part of the parole board) that Ellard has fundamentally changed as a human being.

 

We'll see.

Probably.  But sometimes people are stubborn, sometimes they will not admit it so they do not let family members down.  I've yet to see proof that people that do not admit to crimes before the parole board, upon release are more likely to commit more crimes.

 

I have a general rule I think can be put in place for young offenders.  The absolute maximum prison time is the same as their age at the time of the offence.  So in her case, it'd be 15 years.

See, I have issues with this 1990 crime...

 

Huenemann was convicted in 1992 for promising part of a $4-million inheritance to his Mount Douglas Secondary classmates Derik Lord and David Muir if they committed the murders.

All three teens were convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. Muir, the only one of the three to admit his role in the killings, has been on full parole since 2003.

 

 

So of the two guys that actually did the crime, were in the house and had the opportunity to back out before they did it...

 

Muir admitted to the crime and he's out in 2003.

Lord says he did not do the crime and he's afraid to tell his parents he did.  He remains in jail 27 years later.

Huenemann was not even in the same city where the crime took place and did not force these guys by threat to commit the murder (like an underworld figure might) and he also is still in jail 27 years later.
