🚔Saanich Police investigating two robberies that happened over the weekend🚔

The first happened at about 5:15AM on May 25, 2019 at the 7-11 located at 10 Burnside Road W. A male entered the store, produced a gun to the store employee and demanded money. He then fled on foot heading west on Burnside Road.

The suspect is described as being a Caucasian male, about 40 years old. He wore a black leather jacket with a hoody underneath, dark pants and shoes, and sunglasses.

The second happened the following morning, on May 26th. This robbery took place at the 7-11 at 3775 Carey Road at about 4:30AM. Two suspects, a male and a female, entered the store and approached two employees who were behind the counter, demanding money. One of the suspects held a gun during the robbery. They then fled on foot down Harriet Road towards the Galloping Goose Trail.

The male suspect was Caucasian, 25-30 years old, skinny and about 5’8” tall. He wore a black hoody and had his face partially covered with a bandana.

The female suspect was tall (6’0” to 6’3”), skinny and wore a black jacket with a D/C logo on the front. She also had her face covered by a bandana.
In both cases, the suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of money along with cigarettes. Thankfully none of the store employees were physically harmed during these crimes.

At this time, police have not identified any of the suspects and have not ruled out that the two robberies may be connected. Both stores were examined by our Forensic Identification team and our detectives have taken over the investigations.

Anyone with information about these two robberies is asked to contact us at 250-475-4321 or to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Files 19-12647 & 19-12727

Jeez, armed (with a gun) robbery becoming more common is really bad.

Would this trend not possibly suggest that maybe encouraging a thriving street drug trade is not such a great idea? Not just because of the toll on the addicts but also because of the likelihood they will turn to crime to support a habit. I realize that CoV has more pressing issues, like banning horses and flying to international conferences, but nevertheless...

As much as it makes no difference* to those involved what is the likelihood those are airsoft pistols?

* It's still real to the clerks, and it's still a firearm for the purposes of "armed robbery".

Victoria, BC – VicPD K9 and Patrol officers took three people into custody during a vehicle stop Sunday night.

A VicPD K9 officer spotted the stolen vehicle in the 2900-block of Douglas Street just after 9 p.m. that evening. With the assistance of additional Patrol officers, officers blocked the vehicle from leaving. Three occupants in the vehicle were then taken into custody.

During their search, officers located fentanyl, methamphetamine and seized an imitation firearm.

Our tax dollars at work: we pay for the low barrier housing and we pay to deal with the criminality they bring.

well his face was pretty clear on video surveillance camera footage.  i'm almost sure the extensive investigation was helped by that.

🚔Crime Reduction Unit Arrests Two For Drug Trafficking With Ties To Organized Crime🚔

Victoria, BC – VicPD’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), in coordination with the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team (GVERT), has taken a man and woman, with ties to Lower Mainland organized crime, into custody for drug trafficking offences.

Over a month-long investigation, CRU officers targeted the suspects due in part to their alleged ties to organized crime. The investigation focussed on a Victoria area drug line believed set up by the Lower Mainland gang “the Brothers Keepers.” On May 15th, CRU officers, with the assistance of the GVERT officers, executed a search warrant in the 200-block of Battleford Avenue in Saanich. They arrested a man and a woman.

Officers located drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine and nearly $15,000 in cash. In addition, officers seized two vehicles, one of which is being recommended for civil forfeiture. The man and woman were both released and investigators are recommending drug trafficking charges.

This is the second time in as many months that CRU officers have disrupted the group. On April 5, 2019, CRU officers arrested a woman believed to be connected to the group (VicPD file 2019-9553). The Crime Reduction Unit hopes that these investigations will deter further gang activity in the Victoria area.

Well when your police chief publicly states that he is not interested in pursuing drug possession or dealing it sends a pretty strong message.
