Underwear check leads to firing of Comox teacher

........... It began with her finding the underwear on the lid of a toilet in a boys’ washroom, along with feces on the floor.

Guerineau then made boys from grades 3 to 11 show her the waistbands of their underwear in order to identify who was responsible. She visited the classrooms of students in grades 3 to 6, while those in grades 7 to 11 were lined up in the hallway for the underwear check. ......

If my grade 8 teacher looked down my pants and said "where's your underwear?" I'd look her dead in the eye and whisper "Ma'am...this wild stallion runs free".

But actual me probably would have just whimpered and said "I dunno".

the worst part of this "news" story is they never told us if they found an underwearless student.

The report said that Guerineau failed to give proper consideration to the consequences of her actions, her actions had the potential to cause emotional harm to students and she failed to show appropriate behaviour for an administrator.

Guerineau acknowledged her reaction to the situation was inappropriate.

also what's the actual issue?  that these kids were asked to show proof of intact underwear or that the feces and underwear discovery triggered her action in the first place?

was it bad judgement to pursue the owner of the underwear or just the method?  or both?

i don't think it's beyond the imagination to surmise a kid had a scatoalogical emergency that snuck up on him.  how it ends up on the garbage can that's a bit tricker to justify.  but there might still be a plausible answer that does not involve bad intentions.

To conduct a panty raid on grades 3 to 11 seems like quite a wide age range I wouldn’t think a third grader could fit into an 11 graders underwear. They had to work their way all the way to grade 11 to find one without underwear?

it's unclear if they ever found one.  or maybe they found two or three or many more so they had to keep going.  kind of like an "i'm spartacus!" situation.

Based on the behaviour of the teacher it was probably staged.

🚔’Taser’ baton brandished during Facebook Marketplace transaction in Colwood🚔

The West Shore RCMP are currently investigating a report of a Facebook marketplace sale gone wrong.

On October 27th 2019, the complainant notified the RCMP that they made arrangements online to meet up with the suspect in Colwood. The complainant had agreed to swap some personal items in exchange for a gaming system.

The complaint and suspect met each other and exchanged items. The complaint left and later realised the box they were given did not contain the gaming system so they went back to the suspect and asked for their personal items to be returned. That’s when the suspect brandished a long baton shaped conducted energy weapon. The suspect is alleged to have displayed the weapon, turning it on and intimidating the complainant.

“The West Shore RCMP Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant on the suspect’s home. The conducted energy weapon was located in the search and seized by police. The suspect was identified as a 23 year old male who was arrested for being in possession of a weapon dangerous to the public as well as fraud,” said Cst. Nancy Saggar, Media Relations Officer, West Shore RCMP.

Police are reminding the public to exercise caution when meeting up with people online to buy/sell items. Its a good idea to pick a public location as a meeting point, preferably during the daytime hours. If you can, take a friend with you so you are not alone. Thankfully the complainant was not injured in this crime.

A Fort Nelson man is in custody and faces numerous charges after a Victoria store was robbed and a man attacked with a hatchet.

On Nov. 1, VicPD officers were called to a business in the 1900-block of Oak Bay Avenue for a report of a robbery. When officers arrived the victims and witnesses reported the male suspect had entered the business and began carrying various items. One of the items the suspect retrieved was a hatchet. When the suspect attempted to leave the store without paying, an employee tried to stop him. The suspect then allegedly attacked the employee with the hatchet, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries. Police say two customers stepped in and the suspect was disarmed.

The suspect then re-entered the store and allegedly grabbed the Remembrance Day Poppy box from the counter while confronting the injured store employee. During this exchange, another staff member intervened. The suspect allegedly assaulted him, causing non-life-threatening injuries.

Online posts that link the hold and secure at EMCS on Thursday with alleged threats against the high school and the possession of weapons are frustrating the RCMP as they investigate the incident.

“This investigation, as with most police investigations, needs to be based on facts and first-hand information. Social media can be a great tool, but investigators are finding that rumours, speculation and hearsay are unnecessarily hampering the investigation,” Cpl. Chris Manseau said in a media release.

“We need people who have first-hand information to come forward, and speak with officers. I urge anyone with first-hand information to come forward to the Sooke RCMP detachment and speak with an officer to ensure the actual facts are known.”

Something’s going down east of downtown.

Male and female victims (possibly a domestic). VicPD cruisers were spotted flying east on Yates (a westbound street).
